To get away from that insanity though uh. There's something real heartwarming about seeing Hobbs hanging out with the kid and showing him the giant Sonic ring to cheer him up. Just a really nice moment. Love that guy. Make him champion now. Book of Hobbs Chapter 6: Help The Kids Book of Hobbs Chapter 7: f*** Labyrinth Zone

Just to throw out there, if you're aware of what happened recently to get posts moved, we don't need it being brought up after the fact.
You're all doing a good job with it but just to add awareness on our end.

One of my first exposures to indie wrestling was being at a show where Super Dragon slapped the headphones off a dude sitting three seats away from me, so I'm a bit desensitized to wrestlers assaulting fans.
That said, I definitely think this warrants a "yo chill the f*** out" or two from TK to MJF.

If that kid's parent would've picked up something and chucked it at MJF, I wouldn't have blamed them. You invite someone to be a part of the show like that, you're inviting whatever comes next. MJF and AEW are lucky that nothing happened. MJF is a tool and if he can't get heat without resorting to cheap shit and shooting in promos, he's not nearly talented enough to be the focal point of a company.

This fits in well with my poll on would you bring your kids to an AEW show 😂
Also this is a good example of some of the gymnastics some will do to defend AEW.
Is this the end of the world and MJF should be fired or arrested? No. But it’s still really dumb and now there’s lots of talk of this taking away from what was apparently a strong match and show.

That's a work, brother.
"Let me throw water on your son and we will take you backstage after so the dirt sheets think it's an apology"
No way is this real, lol.
The Mom with the obvious BAY BAY shirt and the child with the title around his waist that they probably gave him before the show, they couldn't have made themselves easier to find if they tried.
This is good heat and publicity for MJF. He wants people to buy into his character.

It was definitely stupid and MJF shouldn’t have done it. But it seems like AEW did everything they could make it up to the kid and his mother and everything seemed to be smoothed over. So in reality, it’s really not that big a deal. He shouldn’t have done it of course. Then again, I don’t have kids so my reaction is different from people who do. So I understand that. But hardly takes away from an amazing match. That’s just silly, and if it does, it will only be for a week or less and this will be forgotten.

That's the other thing - yes, this didn't happen, but all it would have took was like a few socially lubricated dudes seeing that, being like "wtf" and throwing a swing and that turns into a brawl.

The kid was freaking out to the point that AEW staff came and sat with him for the rest of the show. I don't think they'd do that just to be dedicated to the craft. Do I think the picture of Powerhouse was put out there on purpose? Sure do. Do I think that the actual incident was staged? No.

MJF trying to get Dem Heatz is good but chasing Midnight Express in Mid South or god forbid Ox Baker in Cleveland/Roddy Piper as a Heel Anywhere sounds like a lawsuit and multiple people getting injured.

Plus people have to think of it like this: what if another fan would've done this to one of your kids or your SO or someone you were with? Lots of people would throw down without hesitation. The reaction would not be "it's just water bro quit being so soft".

Texas law doesn't apply here, by the way. California law does. The show took place in California. Regardless it was an insanely stupid thing for MJF to do and all this did was make him unemployable elsewhere. I can't see even WWE wanting anything to do with him after that. AEW should probably count their blessings he didn't do this on Dynamite or Rampage though because otherwise WarnerMedia would have demanded blood because a grown white man tossing water on a black child unprovoked (and the child not being in on it) is insanely bad optics. My dumb ass at 3 Am Assumed it wa son Texas because Texas death match

It really doesn't when it comes to mine. But sure. Roll with that. lol
Water, spit, food. Whatever. You don't throw that shit on someone's kid. That could've gone very differently with a different parent. As a parent? Yup. This. All of this. I can suspend disbelief and honor kayfabe only so much.

My dumb ass at 3 Am Assumed it wa son Texas because Texas death match I’m just a small town personal injury lawyer in Indiana, but I can say with absolute certainty that throwing water on an 8-year-old is potentially at least a misdemeanor in every jurisdiction in the USA. And even if not charged with a crime, it’s a potentially actionable lawsuit. I tend to fall into the camp that, in the grand scheme of things, this wasn’t a huge deal, but it’s one of those things where AEW probably doesn’t want its world champion potentially exposing it to liability like that and, honestly, it detracted from a great match because here we are talking about this all day rather than discussing the match itself (which was excellent). MJF is certainly a great “old school” heel. He just needs to cut out the whole “committing crimes and starting riots” part of the “old school heel” schtick. To quote Kevin Nash, it’s f***ing fake man.
