At first I was for sure it was a plant because it was so out of left field and over the top. MJF assaulted a kid and got to call it heel heat.
It was a little bit of water, I think calling it "Assault" is a bit extreme.
Pretty sure it counts legally, actually. That might vary by jurisdiction, but it's part of why "assault" and "battery" are technically separate charges.

It sounds like there won't be charges pressed though, by the sounds of things everything's good and the kid got tended to
I imagine MJF won't be doing that again though lol

No, it was def assault.
An unprovoked attack on a child even if it was water isn't cool. All for getting heel heat but kids should be off limits as they are usually plants and in on it

That's fair, at least it seemed smoothed over, MJF likely apologized behind a curtain

Not in Texas
There are two elements of assault and battery in Texas: 1) intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly; and 2) causing bodily injury to another, threatening another with imminent bodily injury, or causing physical contact with another when you know or should reasonably believe that the other will regard the contact as offensive or provocative.
Maybe it can fall under the last definition of offensive contact, but I'm not sure

watching the clip, I think the mom may have been in on it but the kid wasn't. Longer clip shows that the mom held the cup up to give to MJF a few seconds before he grabbed it

Could be a case that he was supposed on it but you know, he is a freaking kid , like when Dominik explained he was legit scared by Eddie.
(also me speaking of what defines assault is also not me saying what he did was okay to a non-plant kid).

It's funny to see so many people react to this on Twitter. It's like, just because you're willing to carry water for MJF's antics doesn't mean he's going to throw that same water in your face. Unlike this kid.
If anything this should user in the return of the stunt granny. That'll get real heat.
Seriously though not ok to do to anyone. I've never thought it was ok to throw a drink on a fan unprovoked. I mean what if you're the DD and get alchohol thrown on you, thus smelling like booze. It's a dangerous line to walk
