It's nearly universally agreed that the modern wrestling style is a lot more athletic and faster paced, but who do you think from the 80's, 90's, even sooner would make it work?
Asshole that he was, Dynamite Kid could probably make it work, since he arguably created the faster style.

I was going to say Dynamite Kid, so I guess I'll go with one of the few people with an even worse rep and say Benoit

Honestly, all of the Radicalz could probably keep up. He wasn't a great promo, but I think Dean the best of all

Harley Race. While not super fast, I think his style would work well today.

Harley Race. While not super fast, I think his style would work well today. Harley wrestled like he was in a fight. Sure, he had some occasional "flash" (headbutt), but he'd fit right in with the Sheamus/Drew/Gunther "lay your shit in" style
Also, X-Pac is like the godfather of American cruiserweight style IMO.

Any big guy who was athletic and could move well and had a good moveset. Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, Steve Williams, Terry Gordy, Big Boss Man, Haku, Barbarian. All of those guys I think would be bigger stars then were if they were around today in that they would come off as even bigger compared to the smaller wrestlers of today but at the same time could all work and would be able to keep up with them in ring.

Bad News Brown would be an Eddie Kingston type probably. Just an asskicker extraordinaire.

I'm not fully unconvinced that Joey Janella isn't just a time travelling clone of Michael Hayes

I think Rick Steamboat would work in modern wrestling. And he got to prove it in 2009.
Savage and Owen both seem like fairly obvious calls for this category, too.

Kinda goes without saying but Bret in modern day would be miraculous. Danielson levels of perfect matches elevating everybody he touches, and unlike back in the New Generation era when he didn't always have the best talent to work with, Bret would be able to put on near-weekly clinics knowing that even the undercard guys are often a lot more technically sound than the dudes he was facing in the main event. Bret's influence is felt so strong and so deep through the whole of how wrestling transformed in his wake that he'd basically have limitless potential ahead of him.

Rick Martel would for sure,a great worker and a superb heel that would do great in this day and age. Luna Vachon, she was awesome and a Rhea Luna feud or Asuka Luna feud would be frikking badass. Owen Hart would have been a huge asset in terms of wrestling and backstage.
