So…I really thought he was gonna retain. We sure Roman is losing tomorrow? I genuinely don't know. I still think yes because after tonight how could they not end on a triumphant note, but this is WWE. But then last year I think anyone would've laid odds on him losing because it was the only outcome that made sense. Perhaps a beyond genius scheme to inject some uncertainty back into the product.

Uncertainty true. At the same time, it feels like everything also has to happen at Wrestlemania. I’m just being FICKLE

Credit to Gunther for being super right, he did indeed never lose the title to an American.

I would have gone with LA Knight, but the human golden retriever isn’t a bad pick either necessarily. He was good as a heel, but IMO he should have been the Rey Mysterio/Steamboat like babyface the whole time. His NXT Championship win was one of the best feel good moments in wrestling of the last decade.

Last year atleast had a happy ending on Night 1. Cody sitting in the ring being dejected twice in one weekend, and after last years main event would be career killing lol

This really should have been Gable’s moment. I have little interest in Sami as IC Champion again.

What a wet fart of a end of a reign I will forever be pissed this wasn't Gable's moment, Sammy felt shoehorned in the entire way. I love Sammy but this was just... weak, to me. GUNTHER better be on his way to a world title reign. Wet fart? That whole segment from the backstage bit with his wife, kid, KO and Gable to the near 5 star ring work, the crazy brain buster finish and the post match was all a storybook ending.

Eh, different strokes. It worked for some people, not for others. Like, for me most of the satisfaction really just came from a place of, "Glad that reign's over with." Sami being the one to do it was just kind of whatever, any port in a storm. Though the KO bit was a good moment and the ending was great.

Putting him in the storyline with Zayn where one will likely turn heel will extend Gable’s shelf life as a featured singles.

If Gable doesn't have a main event ceiling then this could have been his shining moment, still don't agree that Sami needed this, but whatever, those are my thoughts lol

I do think it's a bit mean saying they wasted it on Sami but... the heck with it. That's just my feeling. As time went on I was like, "Yeah. We doing this" and was braced for it but giving the belt to him for the fourth time in a story cribbed from Gable when the world title was the target - I'm just really, really not amped for it.
I guess we'll see if Priest settles for second too.

I'm kind of thinking one way or another Priest is going to have the World title by Tuesday. They were protecting the hell out of him in the ladder match and putting a ton of focus on him wrecking everyone, they kind of have to be angling at either him cashing in on an injured Seth after he retains or cashing in on Drew to set up him having a big conquering moment at Clash at the Castle by winning it back.

I’m fairly confident Priest doesn’t make it to Tuesday with the briefcase, but I’m 50/50 on him losing and it leading to the split with Judgement Day or him winning and dropping it to Drew at Clash

Gable’s story with Gunther had no payoff in the end.

Some of the greatest IC champs were never main eventers and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think that Gable could have gotten a lot out of a run, especially after his previous attempts. Once he had the title he could either turn heel out of fear he'd lose it, become a fighting champion taking on all challengers or something else. Sami should have won the world title. This was just kinda alright I get and I say that as someone who enjoys Zayn.

Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised As they start to cry, hands held to the sky In the night, the fires are burning bright The ritual has begun, Gunther’s work is done
He’s coming back, he will return And he’ll possess your world title and he’ll make you burn He has the fire, he has the force He has the power to make his evil take its course

The reign ending on 666 is so unintentionally funny, though.

I didn't really care who it was that got it since the match was awesome. I do hope we get a Gable/Sami feud after this.
