I've been thinking about it a bit since the terrible finish. I don't care who beats Roman at this point, if it is at anything other than WM, it will be setup for failure. If they are trying to get another year out of Roman's run to put over Cody at WM40, I get the logic. The problem is that they need to keep Cody going and people aren't going to stick around today for a year build of Cody trying to get back in the picture. They are going to Luger him.

There were a few people on this board that were genuinely happy at last night's result. I honestly would be very interested on their thoughts as to how this continues as I cannot get my head around it from a business perspective let alone an emotional one. Hopefully someone gives us some insight from this perspective.

Tonight, Dana White or Vince comes out to open the show and announce the sale of the WWE. Vince, in his last act as owner, will announce “Roman/Cody: 2” as the main event (since all eyes will be on WWE this week). Cody beats Roman with no interference from anyone…boom, new era, new champion Which will have a lot of people nuclear because "WHY DIDN'T THEY DO IT LAST NIGHT". But given what RAW is up against tonight (San Diego State vs. Connecticut AKA the only time a lot of people in the USA care about college basketball) and given the news, this wouldn't surprise me one bit. Honestly, if I'm somebody that traveled to Mania and they pulled that, I think it'd really make me reconsider traveling for a Mania the next time around.

Cody beats Roman with no interference from anyone…boom, new era, new champion could somehow see this happening, partially as a counter to the NCAA Basketball finals running opposite of Raw and maybe as a kneejerk makegood booking choice in response to the negative reaction for last night's main event finish.

Hopefully someone gives us some insight from this perspective. I'll try to answer. I think the further dissolution of the bloodline is a story that has me locked in and the fact that cody can say roman wasn't good enough to beat him on his own will ding chief's fragile ego even more. You saw the cracks forming already on the road to mania, and with jey and Jimmy in for a rough few weeks, the full detonation of the bloodline should be happening soon

Roman has had title defenses be one on one and one triple threat. Time for an elimination chamber or royal rumble setting where everyone gangs on him and he is eliminated first.

They can't be holding out for the Rock, surely? I can see them getting one match out of him, but I doubt he'd commit to more. That means he'd come in, lose, and we're back where we started again. The Bloodline and family story has been built up enough that Rock vs Roman Reigns for the true Head of the Table title is enough of a sell, isn't it? It doesn't need the title. The more that I think about it, my theory is that they were holding out for the Rock for some involvement but couldn’t get him for mania. Like last night’s shenanigans was to keep up the image that Roman is unbeatable with help from the bloodline. They want Rock to have a hand in Roman losing the title so once he can comitt to a date he will show up and thwart the bloodline attacks, ensuring Cody won’t get screwed again.. THAT’s when Roman will lose the title, setting Rock vs Roman without the tile at Summerslam.

It can only end with the last man to pin him. Baron Corbin, the WWE Universe turns its lonely eyes to you.

Bigger question: does the reign, being historic, need to end at Wrestlemania?

I honestly would be very interested on their thoughts as to how this continues as I cannot get my head around it from a business perspective let alone an emotional one. Hopefully someone gives us some insight from this perspective. Simply put, I've been a Reigns fan since the SHIELD debuted. Cody, not so much. In fact, Cody in ROH was a primary reason I stopped watching that promotion and part of why I never once gave AEW a second of my time. His return piqued my interest but it wasn't massively changing my opinion on him. Then came the RAW where Roman went shooty on the mic and his only response was, "Uh, I'm still gonna beat you anyway!" And I'm not gonna claim to know whose call that was for him to say that but it killed off my interest in Cody Rhodes entirely.

Ya know, the last month I thought “..if Roman won, I could see them eventually doing a triangle match with Cody and Sami” but after KO and Sami won the titles, and at the risk of burning either Cody or Sami’s fan base, I’m thinking nah.
Seth. Rock, maybe. f*** the latter, I hope it’s the former. There’s Jey too, I guess.

It’d be the equivalent of WCW having to air Goldberg vs. DDP from Halloween Havoc 1998 on Nitro the next night for free. Only with WCW it was just due to incompetence. This would be INTENTIONAL!

Or the last man who pinned him for a title, the man whose relentless advertising and public relations appearances recently likely secured his bag with the newly merged company for years to come…..
