I was amused by his off-script burial of Adam Page in that one promo, that was some top tier shithousery, if only he had left it there.

I don't like his personality, but I appreciate his love of diet soda. So much better than that overly sweet regular crap.

The MJF/Punk feud is one of my all time favorites.

I’m a fan of Punk up until that scrum. I’m a big fan of his work. But that dude I saw right there, he can piss off.
Loved him in ROH and WWE. His AEW run wasn’t doing it for me really once the novelty of the return wore off, but I still liked him. I KNOW all the stories of him being a dick, but that scrum and the way he dragged Colt and his mother up…f*** him.
Sorry I got negative a bit. I really am a big fan of his work. MITB 11 and Royal Rumble 2010 are two of my favorite performances ever.

There's always three sides to every story. In this case we have Punk's, the Elite's, and somewhere in the middle I'm sure is the truth.
I don't think Punk is all bad. From a wrestling standpoint he's always interesting and can pull people into whatever he's doing. I hope he stays healthy and gets some good stuff out of his run when he's back.

When I was a teen and into my early 20s, I kinda always felt like an outsider because, well, being a female wrestling fan, scifi nerd, hard rock fan, it wasn't always easy, especially when my dad passed away and he was the one who encouraged a lot of that, and my mother didn't really -get- why I liked any of that... also I didn't like to drink, never tried drugs, then Punk came around and I realized there were others similar to me, and like, the Straight Edge Society kind of made it feel more acceptable, in a way. So yeah, thinking too much about the scrum makes me uncomfortable, though I don't think it's purely all one sided, but I'll probably always be a Punk fan in some shape or fashion because when I was young and really uncomfortable with myself at times, he helped put me on the path to see I was ok, even with everything going on.

That's very cool you had that experience with CM Punk. I can relate to feeling like that, and would have loved to have had someone to show me "it was okay to be me" growing up. If I'd been born a generation later, I probably would've liked CM Punk too for that reason.

I became a fan during his AEW run. Actually wasn't watching when he was in WWE, though I've seen some stuff.

The Punk/Hardy Feud in 09 made a Wrestling Fan as a little kid. I always thought the Straight Edge Society Run was massive underrated and should be mentioned more, but his Main Peak obviously was post-Pipebomb! Summer of Punk was so awesome even tho Hunter should have never pinned him! I overall liked his AEW Run mabye not the Matches but the Promos with MJF were a class act.

Things I liked from CM Punk from his AEW run before it all went to shit in an injury-paranoia-and-muffin-fueled disaster:
His putting over Martin Brodeur and the Devils mini-dynasty of the mid-90's-early 00's on commentary when they were in Newark.
His feud with MJF is one of the best in the company's short history. Their match at Revolution is still my MOTY for 2022 in spite of everything that happened afterwards with both Punk and MJF.
Technical shortcomings due to age or lack of athleticism aside, when he's on his game he's one of the best in-ring storytellers to ever get in the squared circle.

His rise in ROH coincided with me rediscovering wrestling after a couple of years out post-Invasion disappointment, and I’ve always been a bit of a fan.
And as a bloke, I’m not sure he’s an outright villain. Obviously I don’t know him so I might be totally wrong, but he strikes me as being a pretty troubled, insecure and difficult man rather than a genuine baddie. As an insecure, troubled and occasionally difficult man I can’t help but empathise with him.

He's given me many of my favourite matches/moments over the past 15-20 years, probably more so than any other single wrestler.
Summer of Punk 2005 (watched in retrospect) Original Jeff Hardy feud Pipebomb 2011 MITB 2011 Vs Cena Raw 2013 Vs Cena AEW debut In ring return Vs Darby MJF feud

His chemistry with Cena was next level. Loved all their matches. I don’t rate matches hardly ever and I’m usually indifferent to Meltzer’s takes, people can like and hate anything, but that Cena/Punk match in Texas felt like ***** to me. Heck, I’d argue their MITB match had six-star heat and drama, the same kind I feel rewatching the Misawa/Kawada 94 fight.
