In my opinion, he stole the show at WrestleMania 29.

Was a fan of his from like 2005 (pre WWE) to 2014, plus 2021-22. He and I have a lot in common, as other people have said on here, so I was able to identify with him a bit. Especially with his struggles to be recognized by his employer. His complaints against WWE seemed like pretty legitimate grievances.
All of that said, he was a guy who wanted to start a revolution in wrestling, so when a group of other guys actually DID start a revolution in wrestling, I figured it'd be a match made in heaven for them to join forces. Instead he rolled in with little respect for that group or their accomplishments and proceeded to drop trou and shit all over the one thing that I really enjoyed watching over the last couple of years. Haven't really been into the product since then and the fanbase now has a super toxic 25% who seem to project like crazy on everyone else in terms of accusations of fanboyism and calling the Bucks toxic when nobody else has had a bad word to say about them over the decades. Punk really gave life to the racket man troll army and probably cost AEW a lot more money than he made it by making it "cool" to hate AEW for a subsection of people.
So yeah it's real hard to be positive. Guy wasn't what I thought he was and I wasted my time.

For what it's worth the first year of his AEW run was great. The matches were good, the promos were good and the feuds were good. Was great to see everyones reaction to his return.

He likes ugly ass dogs. I like ugly ass dogs.
He enjoys ice cream bars. I enjoy ice cream bars.
He knows guys who bite people. I know guys who bite people.
We are basically the same person.

Personally I can’t think of any other modern day guy better than him on the mic. Everything is real and genuine and never seems like he’s playing wrestler. Can’t wait to see him back.

Dude has definitely made some mistakes but I'm glad to see this thread has been mostly positive stuff. Like somebody said, somewhere in between the two sides we've heard is the truth on all of it. Punk's definitely in the top 20-30 US pro wrestlers of all time.
I also certainly thought he was one of the very best parts of AEW before he ate Muffins, drank Spindrift and spewed shit.
If he is on the way back, I hope everybody can co-exist and he can finish out on his terms. We'll see, though.

Putting aside any criticisms of his "happy to be here" character, Punk was still one of the best promo guys in the company. He had a couple of flubbed lines here and there (Philadelphia cheesecake) but he was incredibly believable, charismatic and passionate.

OH MY GOD. That match/feud right there. The promos, the build up, the match itself, just perfection. I mention this every time, but it is insane that Eddie Kingston was the first guy to get a FRESHLY RETURNED off a near decade hiatus CM PUNK to get booed.... My only problem with it, is that feud was one and done... Hopefully they run it back in New York and Kingston gets the victory.

CM Punk straight up kept me watching the main WWE shows through 2011 & 2012. I thought he was great, and liked a lot of his ROH stuff too. In ring, at his peak Punk was just fantastic. A great blend of heel/face work, storytelling and workrate.

Every day when I spray deodorant under my arm I spray twice quickly because I think it sounds like the static at the start of cult of personality and sing “look in my eyyyyyes what do you see” loudly.

CM Punk was the reason I discovered Ring of Honor and Indy wrestling. So much of my taste in wrestling today was shaped in that small window of time and it wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for his angle there in 2005.

CM Punk is the only wrestler to single-handedly defeat The Shield.

He was good through the MJF feud.
Making him a world title contender was an enormous mistake, and it looks like sure as anything they’re going to do it again.

He was the best part of WWE for a while, by a long shot. I like his theme song. That’s all I’ve got.
