That was an egregious fight, but only because no one is currently on her level. It was like watching a person beat up a mannequin. So it makes sense. Why run your body into the ground training for a fight you could win in your sleep? Retire, live it up. Though as with EVERY fighter retirement, is it really over?

For her it is probably 60/40 she stays retired My assumption is Pena gets first crack at the title and assuming she wins, she will call out Nunez for the 3rd fight since she was injured for this

It would have been a lot more triumphant if Amanda got to go out on a real, actual fight against Pena, who probably would've fared better than Aldana just freezing up, but man, yeah, I wouldn't want to keep fighting myself if I was just being thrown in with people literally too scared to fight me. Nunes is absolutely on another level and the game hasn't quite caught up to her. It's probably smarter to retire seeming invincible than to start to slow down, because even if they don't catch up to her, she might fall back enough to be in shooting range and nobody wants to see her go the path of Spider.
Wish she had a better one to go out on, because one of the judges' cards had this at 50-43 and that's just all kinds of a brutal own, but it is what it is. A GOAT for sure.

Nunes is great but her post fight comments about how every champion after her will be fake because they didn’t beat her were cringey AF.

Nunez beat the breaks off every woman that stepped to her and like stated womens MMA not has caught up to her so it only makes sense for her to be like...well instead of hanging around and just padding stats by beating women she has beaten two times over ima just go out ontop.
I do see her eventually coming out of retirement when talks starts kicking up with whatever woman comes next and starts getting the GOAT talk labled on her etc because by then it will be a matter of pride for Nunez and it will be such an easy way to draw her out of retirement.

I don't know her finances. But of all the UFC champions, she was probably paid on the lower end, considering her PPVs never did that well. Also, there wouldn't really be much interest from Hollywood or WWE. So I would say her "retirement" is more of a marketing/leverage move than anything else.

Not a big fan of Nunez. Can't deny her talent. Also can't deny her ability to screw around with the scheduling for any fight she thought might be even close to competitive. I was one of the few people who expected her to beat Cyborg, and my reason from day one was "because if Nunes wasn't pretty much 100% confident of her ability to win, the match wouldn't happen." And I still think Schevchenko beat her in that 2nd fight.
I've heard a lot of people claim that Nunes is actually very funny and likeable off-camera, and now that WWE and UFC share ownership there might be a pipeline in that way. But on the flip side WWE's invested enough into Ronda that I can see them giving her an unconditional veto on whether Nunes can get into WWE, and I see Ronda exercising it. There might be some interest in AEW (they did have her in the audience once), but AEW's never really figured out how to run their women's division so it's not exactly a great alternative.

She's going to go to WWE isn't she? Not with Ronda still with WWE. I can absoloutley see AEW gunning for her though to basically tout having the REAL/actual baddest woman on the planet.

So I can absoloutley see a scenario where she basically gets Vince and or HHH to veto any chance of Nunez coming in full time.

She really didn't need to demand that either, that was their best plan with her since imo her and Shayna should be smoking people and Ronda has clearly regressed hard

If Ronda demanded it, she probably didn't exactly need to twist anyone's arm.

Amanda's a legend. Pena's got room to talk, sure, but I doubt Amanda's ducking her, since, what has she got left to prove? Ronda, Cyborg, Holly Holm, etc, her list of people she has dispatched speaks for itself.
Will she come out of retirement for the right challenge? Potentially, but if she does, I hope the check's suitably big.

Ronda/Shayna is the right to hold the titles for a while, while they build up the other women around them in regards to tag division. This can also work to building up Shayna as a potential singles star since that would be Ronda goal more than anything to have a feud with her friend to help her Unifying the NXT tag titles too is a smart move. That division doesn't need it and you can go back to original idea if anything of those tag titles being defended across the 3 brands

There are tons of people who are never going to get a sniff at these tag belts, being realistic, much less the NXT, Raw, or Smackdown Women's titles, but I get that the "tag division" is non-existent right now. If we still had people like Fire and Desire around, it'd be one thing, but this at least maybe gives WWE some impetus to try to form some actual teams, and Ronda/Shayna have the credibility to hold down the fort in the mean time.

I never bought into her personally. Overrated in my eyes. Cyborg & Schevchenko were robbed.
