Was there ever a Nailz action figure? I want to say yes, but probably not. 😂 Hasbro made one. It was in production at least from late 1992, early 93. It was scheduled for release in August 1993, according to WWF magazine's ad but I never did find it in stores. The whole yellow card series I couldn't find November 1995 at the KB closeouts for Hasbros and even then, no Nailz. I ordered one from Figures Inc for $25 in early 96. Probably a lot more now on ebay.

Making Boss Man look strong so he can build up on the way out? Only thing I can think of. They were teasing a feud with Nailz and Taker after Survivor Series, they had a staredown on Superstars but Nailz was fired shortly afterwards. Yep the stare down made the wwf magazine

I’ll venture that Nailz had some of the best intro vignettes. We never saw his face or knew his name, just first person footage going through the prison with a creepy voice saying he’s coming for Boss Man.

Nailz is released into the WWF: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yioFXII2_hoThe build to his debut was very well done. Both with the vignettes and then him threatening Boss Man over the PA during his squash matches after being released. First vignette aired in March and he didn't actually appear until the end of May. While not quite as drawn out it reminded me a bit of Kane's debut five years later in that you know he's coming and you know who he's going after when he does show up but yet there's this suspense and mystery to it. "What does he look like?" "How big is he?". With that said though while well done it made no sense from a logic standpoint. Nailz being allowed to have vignettes of him filmed while still incarcerated is far fetched enough as it is but then on top of it he's threatening to come after someone when he does get out. I'm pretty sure that's going to lead to your parole being revoked. On a related note watching his debut match I wonder why they quickly dropped the Electric Chair Drop as his finisher. That was a PERFECT finisher for his character.

He have a kick ass job outside the ring or something?
Feel like the dude would've been primed for a resurgence once the Indies started booming. A company like GCW would've loved to book him.

That alone should tell you something was gonna happen. Though to be fair, if something didn’t happen, they could’ve had an unadvertised segment come on the air like an interview.

Selling trailers in his home in Minnesota was his job after retiring from wrestling. And going by the cap he's wearing in the one pic in the OP that still seems to be the case. According to people who worked with him in the wrestling business he was a very quiet/introverted guy who kept to himself in the locker room so kind of surprising that he would become a salesman in his post wrestling life.

There was times they would have matches that hadn't been advertised in advance. At the same time though I'm sure people were figuring that it was getting to the point where "The Convict" was going to show up.

That week, though, Nailz's debut happened in between two squash matches with no interview segment taking place at all.

Usually, that part of the show had the match that followed the podium interview or talk show segment. That week, though, Nailz's debut happened in between two squash matches with no interview segment taking place at all. It had to be lateish in the show as it was obviously a big angle and if you put it on too early then it would take away from the other storylines they were trying to push as naturally that's all the commentators would be talking about. Putting it towards the end in between two inconsequential squash matches was really the only logical place for it. Then the squash match afterwards could be served as a backdrop for Vince and Perfect to further put over what just happened. Don't have the results in front of me but if I had to guess that match was someone who didn't have much going on at that point. My guess would either El Matador, Virgil, or the Nasty Boys as those are the only guys still being featured at that point that I can think of that didn't have a feud. Maybe Berzerker as it seemed like they used him in the "backdrop" role a lot during that period but he was in the Undertaker feud at that point so maybe not.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Ctc6STUpl7Q As officially announced last night by Highspots - NAILZ is finally making a convention appearance! He's been completely away from wrestling for 20 years, and now he'll be at Wrestlecon Detroit in August! Highspots flew into Minneapolis last week and I was able to help facilitate the filming of this preview as well as a forthcoming extensive shoot interview (his first ever) that goes deep on his whole career. Highly recommend meeting him, had a really pleasant experience and he brought such a great energy to the building. f***ing LOVE your Prince shirt. Thanks homie!

Thinking back to scrumgate, you could almost say cm punk had the nailz voice modulator at the beginning when their were audio problems. All would be forgiven had he said who's the boss now bossman?

Great. Maybe we'll finally get to hear his side of the story on why he attacked Vince.

Has anybody ever seen any of his work pre-Nailz gimmick? I know he worked in the AWA, and I'm assuming some other smaller territories before going to the WWF.
I've often wondered if he was always terrible in the ring or was this another case of someone that went to WWF got lazy and decided they didn't want to bump in that rock hard ring since Vince was "selling sizzle and not steak" anyways? The only thing I've seen from him pre-Nailz gimmick was a squash match on an episode of AWA on ESPN Classic about 15 years ago. He had an amazing physique at the time.

I always thought he worked the way he did as Nailz because of the character. They acted like he was just a big, intimidating, former prisoner who came to the WWF with no prior experience or formal wrestling training.

Imagine if Nailz stuck around and they gave him Crush's jailbird gimmick and reveal he was in jail for only a day

I figured that was the case. And he stuck with the gimmick and style until he retired. Just wondering if he had any matches, promos, angles, etc that were decent in his early career.
