He have a kick ass job outside the ring or something? Feel like the dude would've been primed for a resurgence once the Indies started booming. A company like GCW would've loved to book him. Selling trailers in his home in Minnesota was his job after retiring from wrestling. And going by the cap he's wearing in the one pic in the OP that still seems to be the case. According to people who worked with him in the wrestling business he was a very quiet/introverted guy who kept to himself in the locker room so kind of surprising that he would become a salesman in his post wrestling life. In a weird way I think it makes sense. If someone’s buying a high value item often they don’t want some loudmouth coming at them at 100mph trying to sell and bullshit, which is why car salesmen and estate agents are often viewed with suspicion. If you’re buying something like a trailer, I think you want and are more inclined to trust someone who’s going to listen and not pressure you. Kind of like Hank Hill’s approach to selling propane: “Here’s a pamphlet, go away and think about it and come back when you’re ready.”

it's so weird hearing this guy who's just been off the face of the planet for this long and as far as I know just never really did interviews anyway have these stories about Soduster Kenny Jay and being discovered by Hogan and meeting Verne Gagne. Enjoying this so far.

Enjoying this so far. I hope they ask why he's gone so long with having no involvement with wrestling, even just one convention or private signing. If he agreed to do highspots, why not agree to another signing years prior? They can't be offering him THAT much more money, as his prices are very good for a guy whose never done a convention. I am still shocked that it was actually him doing the website with autographs. I thought for sure someone was scamming fans, like the fake Bobby Heenan twitter. Time after time someone posted getting a signed 8x10 and I thought "fake."

Is it possible that he's a nice guy under that tough exterior?
I want his thoughts on that beating he gave Vince McMahon.

I wonder if he's ever considered that being an absolutely terrible choice of witness for the government is probably a big part of why Vince escaped the steroids trial. I mean, he at least did answer truthfully under oath about despising him, but that's also probably something that should have come up when they were deciding if he was a credible witness.

I gave it a go. He seems like an incredibly nice and normal guy with not much to say bad about literally anybody other than Vince who he doesnt mention by name throughout, I think he calls him the assailant at one point, and he expresses some very mild annoyance at Bossman and Kamala over refusing to lose or lose in a particular way back during his WWF run. The whole chocking incident doesnt get much chat at all other than confirmation of he was annoyed at the pay day, attacked Vince and then phoned the cops. Like it's not at the level of that Nick Patrick shoot where he finally gets to Spring Stampede and just goes "uh I dunno what happened" but yeah they kind of glide through it like every other topic because I guess there really wasnt much to say other than what literally went on and Nailz seems like one of those guys who just didnt give a shit about wrestling before, during or after his time in the business, just pay him and tell him what to do, which most of the answers indicate. They glide through everything and get a decent overview of pretty much everything he did from beginning to selling trailers.
I did enjoy it a great deal though because I honestly knew next to nothing about him and Mike Johnson gets through basically everything you'd want to hear about and you'll learn a lot about what a long and weird career he's had. I wish they'd gone deeper into Verne Gagne's house being forced to put a skatepark on the land. Hoping there's another volume because it'd be nice to have a few more specifics but yeah as a first go for a guy whos never spoken about wrestling since he quit and disappeared you cant really ask for more.

Hoping there's another volume because it'd be nice to have a few more specifics but yeah as a first go for a guy whos never spoken about wrestling since he quit and disappeared you cant really ask for more. I wonder if there's more to the story then just him being pissed about pay. Like there was something else with Vince that pissed him off. Just up and deciding you are going to beat the crap out of your boss over being unhappy over payoffs is extremely irrational behavior. Apparently it stemmed from him and Boss Man comparing payoffs with Boss Man making more despite being in the same matches. However Boss Man was the bigger star and had been in company a lot longer so he shouldn't have been that surprised. According to some Boss Man was riling him up about it saying stuff like "I wouldn't put up with that if I was you" however still physically assaulting your boss over it is very extreme. On the other hand though I've also heard the Summerslam match with Virgil is the payoff he was more angry about so I don't know. Going by that interview clip he comes off as being pretty normal and possessing at least decent intelligence. An example being saying that he suggested the orange prison suit as the best outfit for him since it would be more bright and would stand out more was pretty astute of him I thought. I definitely don't get simpleton vibes from him nor being a unstable lunatic like stories out there about him seem to indicate. The sexual harassment claim was obviously a lie to cover his tracks which while unethical was smart on his part since Vince had enough on his plate at that time. Vince saying something to provoke him during the meeting isn't it as according to several people Nailz had flat out told them ahead of time that he was going to kick Vince's ass including Berzerker who Nailz instructed to wait outside the office and then pretend to try and pull him off Vince when he in reality he wasn't trying at all and was just making it harder for others to break it up by being in the way.
