Imagine what they could have got without Punk there.

I'm curious to see what Collision's DVR numbers look like after a few months since Rampage gets such a bigger bump from that when compared to other wrestling shows due to its time slot.

“We’ve got Rampage at home” vibes. Stuff like this is why I really won't miss these threads if there isn't an alternative that springs up to Showbuzz...

Man, all this just reminds me further that I’m not going to miss these threads. Laughing at a presumed failing rating (Despite being 5th in cable) because you don't like CM Punk existing on a two hour show is not the dunk people think it is imo And I agree with you, these threads have really become exhausting, and you know it's bad when even Showbuzz themselves brought up wrestling trolls It sucks we might not have a definitive ratings system for TV anymore, but this shit only incited people to be at their worst in this fandom.

I figured there would still be a way for these to continue on Regardless it still highlights exactly how much Showbuzz won't miss from the wrestling fandom as a whole.

Losing ShowBuzz is going to make the discourse worse because now we'll just get the numbers but without any context. When you get the rankings, you can see that even if the numbers are down, they may have done well for the night or the timeslot.

Honestly I'd support a soft ban on ratings threads for both WWE and AEW because the lack of context of rankings or how they do compared to other show sis going to make these threads even more exhausting. That missing context makes statistical analysis a lot less accurate, and just encourages obnoxious tribalism.

Banning ratings threads seems pointlessly stifling of relevant conversation to me, though I do definitely think that people kind of need to learn to keep perspective on these things. I find them interesting to pay attention to but short of longterm slides or boosts or drastic increases / drops under certain conditions everything needs to be taken in stride.

At this point its a game between Rampage and Collision in how low their ratings can go for their respective timeslot. Rampage, for better or worse seems to have hit a fairly soft floor. But we've yet to see how Collision does against college sports and WWE PLEs. Because AEW can stack the card all they want, but major PLEs from WWE are going to be the hotter topic of the week. The real kicker is that Collision (assuming its still around) will have to go up against Wrestlemania, which is going to absolutely roll them, since Wrestlemania is basically seen as the Super Bowl of wrestling by fans. I'd probably just preemptively plan for the show against Mania to have an empty arena match or be a best-of special or something because in both ratings and attendance no one's watching that shit. I’d be shocked if AEW doesn’t take a knee during WM weekend. No point in “stacking the card” or anything like that. They’d get slaughtered. Just put on a best of show or something and come back the following week.

Thursday Night Collision sounds good for WM weekend!

I find them interesting to pay attention to but short of longterm slides or boosts or drastic increases / drops under certain conditions everything needs to be taken in stride. It shouldn't be a rule (please no) but it's worth mentioning that if you find a certain topic or style of discussion to be not worth it you can just not post in it or view it. Not every conversation needs to follow the dichotomy one has built into their head for what's acceptable or 'productive'. The idea that a metric that is used to gauge SOME interest in a product, and that is taken seriously by the companies themselves in conjunction with others, doesn't really matter at all because the way it's discussed annoys you, but doesn't break rules, is odd.

SpoilerTV has the rankings daily, unless they were just copying Showbuzz.

Banning ratings threads seems rather draconian. It’s relevant conversation to the business side and popularity of pro wrestling, and those who don’t enjoy that aspect of the business can just not read the discourse about it. It’s not like our threads here turn into Twitter-like flame wars.

If only it was possible to block threads on these boards. Then we could have one single ratings thread and everyone who doesn't care could block that single thread and never see ratings talk again.
(I'm presuming you can't block/mute threads, lol)
