Seeing the Undertaker poster for Badd Blood with him holding his own head I thought for a time longer then I should have that there was a match where the loser gets decapitated. I think I thought this also cause I knew Alice Cooper did this in his stage show but idk what storyline would make it make sense. I was a WCW watcher at that point since WWf was not on Fox NYC tv syndication

I didn't really believe it, but my friend used to tell me about mysterious secret PPVs seen during the weekdays. The one that sticks out was the one he said had a main event of Tito Santana and ? vs. Zeus and Andre the Giant, and Santana slammed and pinned Andre. I think everyone at one point wondered if Hogan and Beefcake were really brothers. And it is STRANGE to hear that there was a time when Fox NYC had NO WWF syndies, but it was true by the late '90s, wasn't it?

The only NY station that did was WLNY.

I’m sure most people of a certain age knew at least one person who swore, “The WWF and WCW are fake, but ECW is real!”

When Jim Ross announced "Razor" and "Diesel" were coming back, I definitely bought it.
I thought Hall and Nash were just doing a short term deal in WCW and were wrapping up by September of 1996. Then again, I was a kid, so I really wanted this to happen.

They usually would play an (edited for content) horror movie after too. Good times.

I totally fell for the 2002 rumble was going to be held in Glasgow rumour.
Still disappointed.

Not necessarily believed, but I heard weird things (from adults) as a kid.
One was that Jim Cornette wore the long sleeves and full tights on the rare occasions he was in a match because he had been burned at some point.
Another was that Percy Pringle III (Paul Bearer) had been a very handsome man but his face was damaged in a car crash and had to be rebuilt.

When I saw the show for the first time, I thought Randy Savage and Elizabeth really did get married at SummerSlam. I started following wrestling in 1992, so anything before then I watched by renting tapes at Blockbuster Video. I had no idea that Randy and Liz were a real-life couple long before then, and that the Match Made in Heaven was all storyline.
I suppose what happened at the reception should have been a dead giveaway that this wasn’t a legitimate union but, at nine years old, I didn’t have much frame of reference for what a wedding was supposed to be like.

I think everyone at one point wondered if Hogan and Beefcake were really brothers. Funny you bring this up, because one of the things I believed as a kid was that WWF Magazine would publish the Fan Q&A letter I wrote them asking this very question. I held out hope for about six months.

I had a friend on the playground who thought Mankind was Undertaker and Kane's brother. It went something like: Him: "Paul Bearer wouldn't betray Taker for someone who wasn't family!" Me: "But no one's mentioned that he's family. It's never been said" Him: "That's because he's ashamed of how weird Mankind is. Taker and Kane probably don't know either" Me: "But he doesn't look like them. They're tall and have powers" Him: "They look more like the mom and Makind looks more like Paul because he's shorter and fatter. And he does have a power - he can take more damage than anyone!" I knew he was wrong but I love the idea. In his original attire Mankind had a symbol that looked like the one Taker later used, oddly.

I knew someone who thought The Giant was really Andre's son. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}NO, IT WASN'T ME! So I'm close friends with the parents of a Make-a-Wish child and his wish was WWE related. After visiting his favorite stars backstage we had seats with about a half dozen other similar kids/families. When Big Show came out I think I heard some variation of "that's Andre's son!" from most of the families. I 100% believe this is right up there with "The first Ultimate Warrior died and they quietly replaced him" in terms of WWE Urban Legend. But if my memory serves me right, didn't WCW actually say the Giant was Andre's kid a couple times? If so that simply explains the whole thing.

I used to think that Jimmy Hart was Canadian due to the fact that he managed so many Canadian wrestlers (Hart Foundation, Rougeaus, Bravo, Mountie, Earthquake). The fact that he was called "The Mouth of the South" was apparently lost on me.

Yeah, when he first showed up in WCW, they tried to pass him off as Andre's son. Including him throwing a shirt at Hogan, and Hogan freaking out saying it was Andre's shirt.

When Watt's UWF ended rumor going around was it moved to Japan.
All of this was based on one kid seeing Japanese show someone had,IIRC his Uncle lived in Japan most of the year, that had Dr Death,Terry Gordy and another UWF member on it.
Then by high school this kid comes to school with a wrestling mag. "Look they mentioned UWF" and shows us pics from a UWF-I event.

When I was in like 1st grade, a friend of mine explained how he attended a wrestling show before it actually happened. I couldn't wrap my mind around it, and didn't really believe him, but at the same time he seemed totally convinced of the truth his story. When I got older, I wondered if he meant that he saw a taping, but didn't understand what that meant, so an adult explained to him that he was seeing it before the rest of us would see it on TV.
