I also hate to admit it myself but you might be right. Like, they have time to mess it all up (because there’s historical precedence and Daniel Bryan only happened because the fans know of that precedence) but outside of having Cody/Brock feud for literally zero reason (and no, Wade Barrett’s off the cuff reasoning is not one I’ll accept because that literally goes against what we know about Brock Lesnar’s character in terms of a prize fighter), it seems like it’s all going to some kind of plan right now. Can't remember where I read it, it might have been the Observer, but they're going for the same story of Dusty Rhodes chasing Flair for the title in the mid 80s. Starrcade 84, Flair beats Rhodes controversially (specfila ref Joe Frazier stops the match because of blood), and it takes seventeen months (including a Dusty Finish at Starrcade 85) for Dusty to win the title, as various heels put themselves in his path to try and stop him becoming champion. Yeah, I heard that too and I get it, my issue was whether it’d work in a modern TV setting and props to them, as of right now, it’s working out.

Long doesn't always mean good. But this is the best story that the WWE has told since the Mega Powers.

It seems lots of people are still into this, but I'm just so done with this story.
They created the "Not Roman" Championship, so Roman finally losing means less. Wasting Roman's appearances in tag matches. Roman barely wrestles so when he does, if you want me to still care about his historic title reign, then he best be defending that title.
The natural end to this story was Sami vs Roman. They took the Cody detour, and Cody had no place at all being anywhere near this. Now they are just trying to steer back to being a family thing like it started, but it's gone on too long and I just don't care. The only thing care-worthy was Roman's stranglehold on the belts, but with the "Not Roman belt" being actively defended by my favorite male superstar, Seth Rollins (a guy who Roman was never able to beat anyway) the impact of "Roman finally loses the belt" is just sort of "meh" on me now.
It's WWE so they are a good segment and video package away from fixing it, so maybe I'll jump back in for the series finally. For, now, I'll tune into the other wrestlers stories.

Meltzer just stated that the plan for WM is Cody/Reigns again and yeah, like some have stated, it's the Dusty storyline with Flair. So yeah, that's what we are doing. So far it seems to have rebounded after that WM ending.
To this day I still never got the Jey or Sami "they gotta win" comments. As dope as they are it just always seemed like it's leading to Cody. He's the strongest booked face on the roster.

I imagine Jey will get a title shot at one premium event and Jimmy another. We've already seen Jey vs. Roman before, though.

Jey at Summerslam Jimmy at the September show Jey vs. Jimmy vs. Roman at Survivor Series Maybe Solo turns by January and we get Solo vs. Roman. And then after that and the road to Wrestlemania can finally be bloodline free.

Jey winning the title would actually be a perfect ending for the story. Cody doesn't need to end the historic run. He just has to win the title. Don't miss another golden opportunity.

Meh. The Bloodline story itself is one thing - it doesn’t work for me but it quite clearly works for many - but there’s zero reason any of this shit required Roman to remain champion after Mania.

I’d argue that it makes even more sense had he lost to Cody. That was the initial crack and now everything falls apart.

Because they not only have the Bloodline civil war drawing these past few months, but after that’s over they still have the ending of Reigns historic reign as another draw, all while Cody seems to have not lost a step with the crowd after Mania. It was a risk, but they basically extended everything while remaining hot.

It kinda reminds me of what little I've seen of Dragon Ball in that all the beats are great and compelling and what have you but actual progression is padded out with filler cause the can keeps needing to be kicked down the road.

It's a great story now, it was definitely saved by Sami. Because before him it was a snoozefest. Roman cheats and wins, that's all. Sounds like opinion is split, but I definitely think this doesn't need the title. It's a big enough story without it. Sami should have won.
Instead everyone who has fought Roman for the title is so ineffective that a new title had to be created. Keep one world title on Roman, whatever. Losing one title makes Roman even crazier. Creating a new title because Roman is way too good is hurtful to the rest of the roster. Stretching this out til next Mania is too long.
