I mean it's pretty easy to understand it when you listen to him describe just how miserable he was at the end of his WWE run. And it's pretty reductive to say he left just so he can stick skewers in his head. He left for creative freedom and now he can still headline sold out PPVs while also getting to tell the stories he wants to tell - all while still getting paid a ton of money to do so. I remember what he said on Jericho's podcast. I remember a lot about how when people go to AEW everybody will get to do their own thing, tell their own stories, etc. I'm not faulting the Moxley. I said from jump, I hope he's happy because that is what is most important. I simply stated I can't relate to what apparently makes him happy when comparing the two paths. I think if you're saying "I'll never understand the mindset of somebody who gave up the opportunity to repeatedly have headline Wrestlemania matches just so he can have the freedom to stick BBQ skewers in his head in front 1,000 people" then I think part of the issue as to why you can't relate to his decision is that this wasn't the decision he made for the reasons I outlined. It's far more nuanced than that.

I’m glad he’s happy with what he’s doing but man IN MY OPINION Dean Ambrose was just so much better. I can in no way understand this. His last year or so in the WWE was SO bad, and even before then you had shit like JBL constantly calling him whacky or the Stone Cold buries him on a podcast for no reason or the Brock match, along with a ton of other stagnant runs. As for this, the dude loves to bleed sure but he doesn't really take anything that would be considered seriously dangerous like the Tiger Driver. I never see the harm in it and just am amused by stuff like this.

I think this AEW run has completely blown anything he did as Dean Ambrose out of the water, including The Shield, and I loved his work as Ambrose (I even think he was too hard on the comedy stuff he did, he was good at it!).

I know he hated it but I enjoyed his segments in WWE where he was the lunatic fringe and a wacky character. But I also enjoy bamf Mox too.

Can we all at least agree that Mox and old Dean were and are miles ahead of "Last Year Dean Ambrose"? Because... it still hurts to even see pictures of that damn gas mask lmfao

I've seen a few too many neck bumps to get morally outraged at probably relatively minor punctures. the Tiger Driver 91 from Omega/Ospreay was easily more dangerous than this spot 🤷🏼♂️

Not seeing the link between a Stone Cold rip off and death matches tbh. If anything his WWE gimmick was more of a Stone Cold ripoff, Austin did some comedic stuff himself but the product wasn't run like a children's show when he was doing it so it wasn't vomit inducing. I don't think there's any 'supposedly' about him hating being Dean Ambrose and having to use a phrase like goofy prankster to describe what he was pretty well sums up why he hated it and couldn't wait to leave. They were trying to incorporate toilet humour into his promos, personally I don't think it gets any worse than that really for a guy like Mox, I couldn't with a straight face say he'd better doing that shit than literally anything he does now.

Ok? The gimmick was still way better than me. I personally don't see how anyone is entertained by his current character, but to each their own.

Remember when Dean Ambrose lost a match because a television monitor exploded in his face?

Better then unnecessary bleeding every match. I don't think so, but to each their own. I mean, entertainment is subjective. But gigging every night is actually bad for you.

Randy Orton worked a "safe style" and ended up with some severe injuries from taking back bumps for 20 years. Given everything wrestling physically requires of you, getting a forehead cut every few weeks is low on the totem pole.
