I would also add I'd think making really good money would have you decide you don't need to do shit like this anymore...

After reading Mox's book, this is the kind of stuff that makes him feel alive. Hell, dude said Tony could have paid him in sandwiches and he'd have signed. Sounds like dude made his money and is happy to do crazy shit and have freedom to do what he wants. Kind of admirable to be honest.

Yeah. I kno he supposedly hated being Ambrose. But goofy prankster that could brawl is way better than 3rd rate Stone Cold rip off who bleeds all the time and does stupid death match shit. Not seeing the link between a Stone Cold rip off and death matches tbh. If anything his WWE gimmick was more of a Stone Cold ripoff, Austin did some comedic stuff himself but the product wasn't run like a children's show when he was doing it so it wasn't vomit inducing. I don't think there's any 'supposedly' about him hating being Dean Ambrose and having to use a phrase like goofy prankster to describe what he was pretty well sums up why he hated it and couldn't wait to leave. They were trying to incorporate toilet humour into his promos, personally I don't think it gets any worse than that really for a guy like Mox, I couldn't with a straight face say he'd better doing that shit than literally anything he does now. I can see some merit in the Austin knock-off comments, with the middle-fingers and cussing in virtually every promo. For real though, there is nothing wrong with being influenced by one of the biggest stars in wrestling history. LA Knight seems to be doing his best to channel Steve Austin in his current character and, based on crowd-reaction, it's working for him.

Remember when Dean Ambrose lost a match because a television monitor exploded in his face? Remember when Jon Moxley lost a sprinkler death match?

Remember when Dean Ambrose lost a match because a television monitor exploded in his face? Remember when Jon Moxley lost a sprinkler death match? I mean technically he lost to an exploding broom followed by a One Winged Angel. The sprinklers were post match.

Remember when Dean Ambrose lost a match because a television monitor exploded in his face? Remember when Jon Moxley lost a sprinkler death match? Was that not unintentional? He was actually booked to look like an idiot in that one match.

Mox is doing this shit because he enjoys it and more power to him.
I hope more wrestlers can get into a position where they can choose to do what they enjoy instead of having to do stuff they don't just for a pay check.

Can we stop acting like one Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose character is objectively better than the other when that’s an entirely subjective opinion?
The only thing I’ll say is that Mox still makes 7 figures, so it’s entirely disingenuous to act like he’s slumming it doing death matches in a high school gym, whether you like his AEW/NJPW character or not.

Me: I don't need to see it.
*Five minutes goes by*
Me: I still don't need to see it.
*Ten Minutes goes by*
Me: Damn you curiosity, FINE.
*Clicks and winces in advance*
"Something went wrong, try reloading"
Me: Oh, thank god.

First, Iam glad Mox is doing what he wants and earning money for it, more power to him
2nd, me personally, This “crazy!!hardcore!! angry face gravel voice super serious, am I awake? Time to be drenched in blood for no reason” shitck he’s been doing sence coming to AEW has been the most cringiest corniest eye rolling shit I’ve seen
3rd , I’ll take “joker mannerism, lunatic fringe, exploding TV, Mitch the plant owner, clean shaven, crazy hair, former shield member” Dean Ambrose over that shit anyday
Again, just my opinion

OK so just to give some more context to this, Mox was performing in Korukuen Hall in a match that involved Homicide- in his first match there since 2004- and Jun Kasai, THE japanese deathmatch wrestler with a hardcore career spanning almost 3 decades, in his FIRST ever proper appearance in a NJPW-run show. In front of the smarkiest, hottest crowd imaginable for Tokyo. This would've been a massive bucket list moment for him. Pretty sure Gedo had no intention of doing this match but Mox and Desperado probably wore him down lol
As far as deathmatches go, this was actually pretty tame; the four dudes played the hits and had a relatively safe match, there were no sick, disgusting bumps or blade jobs. The spot in question was done in a match Mox had with Desperado in the States last summer in Nashville.
And as mentioned, yeah, this is the stuff Mox is in wrestling for; he doesn't care if people don't think he should be doing this type of match.

I've seen that spot in person and it looks bad but something tells me it's not actually as bad as some of the head drops and wacky dives we've seen wrestlers pull off in the last few years.
If people don't love it, that's their prerogative but the whole "he's worse off" take that's been on Twitter seems lame.
If he's happy and making good money, that's what matters. He's nearing 40, so I also wouldn't be surprised if he starts to slow down on some of this stuff.

The Terry Funk of his generation Oh and Desperado and Mox just had another death match today so expect a few more pics like this

My thought is being a recovering addict and having a kid that he might dial it back, but who knows. I'm sure people will jump on and complain about the new pictures, too.

He's been pretty vocal since leaving WWE that he's now all about the art of wrestling and he sees a lot of art in deathmatches.

The US side of death match gets fairly shit on, but the Japanese side can produce some amazing stuff. Jun Kasai and Despy had an amazing match last year that told a phenomenal story.
