In a throwback to former US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, there was plenty of talk in this hearing of “known unknowns” and “unknown unknowns”.

But after more than two and half hours of testimony, it’s probably fair to say exactly what is now known that was previously unknown, is not known.

I mean, a dude went in front of Congress and swore under oath that the US government was in possession of a dead alien. And it's getting virtually no airtime from any mainstream media outlet. That alone tells me how credible his claims were.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but this is like the 10th time someone has made a claim like this since the 1950's, with no actual evidence. The other 9 went on to sell books about UFO's.



There is also the logical fallacy of other entities having the tech to be able to travel at the speed of light, avoid all our telescopes and satellites, but somehow commonly get stuck on earth.

This is also something that is probably not especially easy to get someone on perjury for, short of catching them saying, "Yo, I committed perjury and am going to sell so many goddamn books!" on tape.

A day before the hearing an aliens sub popped into my feed. People genuinely thought this was going to an earth-shattering event the day before. Some folks were even contemplating suicide because they couldn't reconcile the existence of aliens with their world view, not once considering the hearing would amount to absolutely nothing.

Something about it being a congressional event led so many to think it had to be an authoritative "yes" on the subject. It's really sad. It reminds of the AI buzz earlier this year and online communities were prepping for the singularity. Just absolute leaps in logic and flights of fantasy.
