Liverpool's season was doomed when Klopp announced he was quitting due to a lack of energy. That message transmitted to the players. Awful time to announce it.

Going to be an interesting next couple of weeks in the Championship. Leicester now guaranteed promotion and although Southampton do have a very long shot, it’s pretty much going to be either Leeds or Ipswich. Although they’re a point worse off than Leeds, Ipswich have three more games to play and if they get five points from them, they’re going up. But they’ve only taken two points from their last three games and they have got to go to Hull and Coventry and then play Huddersfield in their final game, who could be playing to stay up.

I can’t think of one good reason to keep Erik ten Hag around next season aside from not wanting to pay out yet another manager.

Congrats to my local side Crawley Town into the League 2 playoffs today.
Sheffield United got hammered 5-1 by Newcastle. A fitting way to get relegated.
Very interested to see what comes of the Salah & Klopp argument at pitch side today. Salah look pretty pissed by something Klopp said. We shall see.
Everton have secured safety in the premier league. Unless they get deducted more points I guess.

Klopp farewell tour going into meltdown as expected. What were they possibly expecting would happen if their manager announces halfway through the season that he was f***ing off?
They done OK considering their squad depth compared to arsenal and man city but now they're being found out.

I'm struggling to think of any time a manager announcing their departure months in advance didn't tank a season. I get that they want to get ahead of the game and appoint somebody to take over almost immediately, but it's backfired.

Yeah it's like they thought the players would care enough to give the gaffer the perfect send off given what he's achieved when he was motivated enough himself. They only care what's in their bank account and to be fair they're not alone, would happen (and has) to any team. Interesting that he's chosen this season to give up. Wonder if he saw the wood from the trees from this current squad and pressed the ejecter seat before he got chopped. The confrontation with Mo Salah suggests something unfortunately for them.

So, in completely different news, André Villas Boas is the new President of FC Porto, housting the long time now former presidente Pinto da Costa who had been in power since 1982 and I believe holds the record for president with the most trophies in football ever.
Considering I never even lived without Pinto da Costa being FC Porto president, I really don't know what to expect except that a LOT of old (and possibly not good at their job anymore) faces will disappear from the spotlight there.

Can’t remember how long in advance he announced he was leaving Man U. If I remember he did it twice. The first time, he announced it well in advance and they had a terrible season. The second time, he waited till near the end and they basically had the title before announcing it.

I didn't see this collapse from Liverpool coming. After Klopp announced he was leaving they had really good results the next 2 months but this last 3-4 weeks killed them. You can't be winning 1 in 5 league games during a title run-in. It's the same as Arsenal this time last year were it must feel like a crushing blow after getting so close and falling at the end but if you asked at the start of the season a cup win, title challenge and easy CL qualification would have been seen as a success. It was expected to be a rebuild season after letting go a lot of the Klopp era stalwarts like Firmino/Henderson/Fabinho and basically rebuilding their entire midfield.
History will be very kind to Klopp's time at Liverpool. Whether City are officially found guilty or not most people think they've been cooking their books and don't really hold their success to the same level as others. Like they won a treble less than a year ago and it almost feels like an afterthought already compared to like United doing it in 99, Liverpool in Instanbul or Arsenal's invincible season which are still iconic decades later.
Without City's alleged financial doping Klopp would likely have an extra 3-4 titles and be up there with Wenger and only behind Ferguson in terms of greatest managers of the PL era. He'd probably be above Wenger actually since he also won a CL and was only at Liverpool for 9 years v 20+ for Wenger. Plus Liverpool when Klopp took over were probably in a tougher spot than Arsenal when Wenger took over.

I celebrated Arsenal’s win so hard both my arms went numb and I had to sit down. The last 10 mins were too tense Arsenal couldn’t do things easy.
Man City though are winning and I still don’t think they can be stopped.

Man City though are winning and I still don’t think they can be stopped. I watched the last 15 mins with my hands in front of my eyes. We were so comfortable until Raya lost his mind. Thank God it wasn't costly in the end. Can't see City losing. Only game I can see being a banana skin for them is maybe Fulham, and possibly the Spuds (though not off the back of this game).

Yeah. I'd love Arsenal to win the title, but even before the Spurs victory today, I'd have the money on City. I think they have a kinder run-in than Arsenal do.
When you know how to go through the gears and win title after title with the late run, it's a huge confidence booster.
Could do with the FA Cup final ending up with 8 players from each side sent off.
