I have loved Jim Neidhart since the early 90's and this is the first I've heard of this Crime in Sports Neidhart podcast. Listening now - THANK YOU!! You're welcome. Hope you enjoyed it! Coincidentally, Crime in Sports gave us another wrestling themed episode this week that would make for a great DSOTR episode, Rockin' Rebel. CiS didn't have much research material to go off of because Rebel wasn't very famous. Hopefully DSOTR could get some interviews with some guys that knew him. I stumbled across Chubby Dudley's YouTube channel recently where he rewatches old ECW, and he has nothing but bad things to say about Rockin' Rebel, and he's not the only one. Tod Gordon has a story about him and Heyman pulling a rib on him to bury him in a battle royal because he was so obnoxious.

Nobody that lives or works in Japan would go on record though, so that would stop that episode. Remember Tajiri was terrified about his gimmick in WWE being tied to Yakuza and wanted to WWE to drop it. I do remember that when he was in the Kyo Dai stable with Akio & Sakoda. I just thought that it would be a very interesting idea for an episode but yeah in actuality that would never happen Interestingly enough, it's not the reprisals by the Yakuza that have so many worried, but the draconian legal and social implications of even being seen with known members. Over the last thirty years, the Japanese government has enacted laws that make RICO look like EPA guidelines, specifically target the Yakuza - and social stigma has followed even their grandchildren, who are now barred from attending some schools solely because of their relation to their grandfathers. Recentage reportage from Japan suggests that the Yakuza are largely defunct an an organization - its members dead or aging, with little success in recruiting new members. Any openly-acknowledged connection between pro wrestling and the Yakuza could spell the end of the industry there - that's how deep the reputational concern runs. Sadly, it does mean that few who have ever been involved in the industry will ever speak about anything they may have seen or heard.

I highly recommend Neidhart's, Crime in Sports episode if you haven't heard it. I always thought the wrestling business and lifestyle were what made Neidhart a wildman. Turns out he was always that way. I have loved Jim Neidhart since the early 90's and this is the first I've heard of this Crime in Sports Neidhart podcast. Listening now - THANK YOU!! All the wrestler episodes in Crime in Sports are great! I enjoy that show.

Is there anyone over the last 5 years that deserves a part 2? Most episodes have a beginning and an ending but some stories often deserve a different perspective or new information comes out.
For example - season 1, episode 2 - The Montreal Screwjob - I never really liked this episode and always wished that they would do a new one, with new interviews and cover everything again now that the production has (in my opinion) improved. Obviously the topic has been discussed to death so maybe let it go, but are the others that deserve a re-episode or a part 2?

Would an episode on Raven work? It wouldn't all be dark - but he also never reached the top of WCW or WWE like I'm sure he wanted. It might be a good episode in between two really dark ones?

They should do an episode on every wrestler who has ever died.

They should do an episode on every wrestler who has ever died. I'd love to see who they could get for the George Hackenschmidt episode.

Has anyone suggested Public Enemy? You are the first but I could see it fitting into the middle of a season perfectly.

Do they have anything to say besides were mega over in ECW, got brought in to WWF, got the dogshit beaten out of them by the APA and then nothing? The Dudleyz had a similar problem, but they hit back, so they earned respect and stayed?

Public Enemy came in and their fate was determined before their first match. I don't think it mattered what they did or didn't do, JBL and others did not want them around. I do not know why they turned down WWF's offer for a contract in 1995 and wonder if they would have had a better run during 95/96 WWF with teams like the Smoking Gunns and the Godwinns.

Owen Hart definitely deserved a 2 parter. The 1st part would have been about his career, ending with the accident. The 2nd part would have dealt with the fallout, lawsuit, family feud, etc.

There was a bidding war over them because Heyman's smoke & mirrors had been so effective. WCW won and then almost immediately discovered that outside of ECW Public Enemy were the drizzling shits.

It seems like the Dudleys avoided it with a lot of "Yes, sir, thank you, sir" with Bradshaw and Faarooq as they were getting their asses handed to them.

Off the top of my head, there are three that I think would make great episodes:
- Daffney. I feel like her story in general could make a strong episode, albeit an eventually particularly bleak one. With that said, I think it would be a great springboard to highlight issues with concussions and mental care in the pro wrestling business.
- The Lady of Silence: Juana Dayanara Barraza Samperio, a luchadora who turned out to be a serial killer, with at least 16 victims over a span of 8 years. I'm shocked she doesn't come up more often in this sort of discussion. Again, it would be an exceptionally bleak episode, especially given her own background, but one that I think would be particularly engaging.
- Haku. Just Haku in general. The one caveat is that a lot of the stories about him seem to be second-hand accounts that are hard to verify, but surely even the stuff we know for a fact would be enough for at least one episode.

Also with Haku, by most accounts, he was generally easygoing and a nice guy. The stories you hear are when other people started up with him.

Buff Bagwell says he filmed an episode for the upcoming season.
Chris Jericho also confirmed he would be narrating the episodes again.
Can't wait to see the full episode list soon!
