I'd really love to see him squeeze a title reign in, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards. Dude turned down the AEW World title and the RoH title when he really needed to get the job done with one of the many title shots he had, I think the time has passed.

wonder if WWE would loan A.E.W. (one night only sort of thing.) any wrestlers from their roster Danielson wanted to have a match with. it's possible WWE would be ok with doing so. Nah. WWE is more open to things but they’re still not going to loan out someone(who would no doubt be a top level star) and let AEW make money off of them. it's possible they could, all depends on how Danielson left WWE. if he left on good terms then I can see them playing ball (and getting permission to show the match on either the network or a raw or smackdown.) with AEW. would also open the door to surprise AEW entrants in the rumble.

From what I remember he left pretty amicably... with their only request be he not do the "yes!" stuff... which Bryan agreed to. Was Bryan one of the people that said they wanted to finish his career in the WWE?

I can see WWE letting someone wrestle Danielson but not on AEW TV.

Danielson going special attraction isn't the worst idea; him doing anything at all is a miracle given what happened. Much as I'm sure he'd want to work a bunch of young guys like he wanted to as world champ where he'd advocated for feuds against like Gran Metallik and shit, it's best to keep him for the big stuff at this point and keep him relatively healthy hopefully.

I can see WWE letting someone wrestle Danielson but not on AEW TV. Yeah they let Shinsuke face Muta and I think some under contract worked Flair's last match. It would be weird to have it Japan or an indy but that could happen. I wouldn't completely rule out anyone appearing on aew TV either, especially if Danielson goes the other way for a match. It's just a lot less likely. Hopefully it does follow Muta, Flair and Saki Akai and open some more forbidden doors. Would be cool if he face Nakajima in noah again, or Kenoh, I think Kaito might have a match in aew as he is wrestling in other companies already.

See this is why kids ruin everything?
Nah for real though. If this is Danielson wanting to just wrestle once in a while (if at all) and go whilst still relatively healthy then that’s great

Like I said in the Collision thread, I'm not ready to see this guy retire yet; getting the American Dragon back has been one of the best parts of my modern wrestling fandom.
But if we're still going to get Danielson as at least a special attraction for big matchups and shows? That would be a pretty big consolation.
Hope he gets to do everything he wants to do this year, gets to do things on his own terms, and then keep popping up for big moments in the future.

It'll be sad to see Danielson step back from full-time wrestling, but being able to do it on his own terms is something none of us expected a few years ago. I hope he has a banger year and gets all of the matches he wants. We still need that Omega rematch.

He's never faced Juventud Guerrera, The Great Sasuke, 2 Cold Scorpio one-on-one, and his only singles match against Ultimo Dragon was an untaped dark match from 2004 - so let's break out the legends who can still go and give us some dream matches before he makes the call to part-timer. Of these, at least two are doable. Juventud already did a match for AEW against Jericho, and Ultimo Dragon has expressed interest in working at least one match for AEW, interestingly enough it was also against Jericho since he was pitching wanting to face Jericho for the ROH title before Jericho lost it back. Still, I'd imagine it's probably general interest.

I see Triple H being a roadblock to that with his recent negative comments on AEW. I think "negative" might be too strong. He said they were a "secondary promotion", which... Yeah, fair. They are not as popular or successful as WWE. He's not obligated to put them over. At the end of the day he does love the industry, and I think he would see the value in letting someone like Danielson maybe work a few matches for each as part of a farewell tour. Oddly I think Nick Khan might be more of an impediment. He's a TV guy, I doubt he'd see the situation the same wait Aitch does.

Ultimately Bryan is one of the WWE's five biggest stars of the 2010s. If he wanted to come back and lose to Gunther it would pop a rating, and it's not like people don't already know he's in AEW.

WBD and NBC would likely have their own opinions on the matter. It's not to say such a collaboration is impossible, but there'd need to be a lot of coordination and negotiation to make this even remotely doable.

I have my fingers crossed for Nigel vs. Danielson one last time...Hopefully Wembley 2 is his swan song Honestly I did wonder if they would ever do this match but assumed not because they would feel like Nigel wouldn’t be able to hang after all that time out. Then I saw Bryan talk about smoke and mirrors after coming back early from his broken arm vs Starks and I wonder maybe if getting a 5 star Danielson/Nigel match is like Bryan’s wrestling masterpiece.
