Phillies permanently keeping Bryce Harper at First Base
He's what 31. Didn't expect this until he got closer to mid 30s but will lessen pressure on his elbow

They need two decent outfield bats, preferably righties, if they're gonna keep Marsh and Pache in Center and send Rojas back down to keep developing his hitting There's some decent guys in the free agency pool and of course Trout trade rumors are gonna swirl, but they essentially need better than Jake Cave... and that won't be hard to do.

Phillies moving Harper to 1B full time seems a bit too soon, but if he’s ok with it and it’s being done to preserve his health, then I guess I can see the logic.
I don’t think it will happen but would love to see Trout traded there. I actually want Trout traded anywhere just so he’s out of Anaheim, but Philly in particular would be fun.

Trout doesn't have a desire to win, he just wants to play Baseball I think he is perfectly content with whatever situation happens in LA

Oh goody, it's that time of year where the Dodgers and Yankees are 'interested in' or 'linked to' every free agent on the market.

Word out there is Cubs will be aggressive in their pursuit of Shohei Ohtani I forever love that Yu Darvish, despite being on another team, does PR work for the Cubs for all these international talents, he talked us up to Seiya and has met with Ohtani to talk us up to him as well, Jesse Rogers mentioned that Yu kind of buried the Dodgers to Shohei and pretty much strongly worded "you dont want to play for them"

I'll never understand why/how everyone involved continues to make free agency completely boring and irrelevant.
NFL free agency is a top 5 sports day of the year with 7-10 days of hype preceeding it. NHL/NBA are usually around the same day and also come with hype. You *know* when it is and that there are usually fireworks.
MLB free agency started earlier this week. Did people besides hardcores know this? Probably not. Has anything of note happened? No. And this is par for the course.

MLB is the only non salary cap league, so when it’s more of a free market, players/agents are going to drag things out as they look for the best offer. It sucks for the fans but there’s really no incentive for the player or the team to sign right away with the current system.

Yeah, MLB free agency is hardly ever fast pace and hot and there is massive talent in this class but everyone knows this shit is getting dragged until close to Xmas There is no sense of urgency. The players in the secondary market are waiting to see what the high end players are going to sign for and the high end players are waiting for a domino to fall. Look at the SS market last year with everyone getting essentially 10 year/$300M deals

Also, let's be honest, this year's free agent market is Shohei Ohtani first and then all the others. If any team starts making mid-sized splashes in the market, that means they know they're out on Ohtani and get the few other pieces for themselves.

The mlb offseason is such a damn snoozefest but with no cap they really can't speed up the process unless they made major changes to FA(which the mlbpa would never allow). Yet you know what MLB could fix about the offseason? How about not staggering all the offseason awards! World Series ended ten days ago and they're not going to give out awards until next week? Imagine if the NFL waited till March to announce the mvp.

With Bally Sports freefalling, there's going to be more payroll disparity between the haves and have-nots than ever. Those RSN deals were a massive source of income for the MLB teams especially in smaller markets. That's also a big source of revenue sharing between the MLB clubs.

There is potential that Ohtani could sign before Xmas The Giants are going to try so hard to come in third place. Then sign CJ Cron and call it an offseason.
