TV Guide is still being published. Not that I spend a lot of time in super markets but I can't remember the last time I saw one out in the wild. I remember back when that was the go to spot to get previews of new shows coming to tv and what they had to Cheer and Jeer

I think Cartoon Network shows still have DVD releases.

I just got rid of mine earlier this year. But companies like Lively still make and market flip pjones to older folks. When I got my flip phone 4 years ago they had to search all thru the Verizon store to find one. And then it cost me 150 bucks. Could have gotten a smart phone for less. I'm proud of you for finally trading your old phone in. I have a corded land line phone on the wall in the kitchen. Canceled my landline last week finally. Might leave the phone on the wall as decoration.

Might leave the phone on the wall as decoration. Did the customer service rep try to talk you into keeping the landline by saying they’re more reliable in case of emergency? I remember as a poor college student that was the pitch they gave to me. I just declined the offer, but thinking about it, it really depends on the type of emergency. Like if someone gets struck in the head and is bleeding out on the porch, you don’t want to leave them unattended while you run to the kitchen to call 911.

They offered me a year at half what I was paying now. Declined it. Then got a better offer. Nope. Then explained to them how for 3 years now at least onnce a month the land line goes out and stays out for days at a time. To then all of the sudden start working an hour before the phone company is coming out to see what is wrong. had the land line cause when I first moved here no cell worked. Had to drive 2 miles down the road to get cell signal. But that was fixed 10 years ago.

MySpace is the biggest one for me. I understand its solely a platform for musicians, but does any musician consciously make the decision to advertise on there rather than...anywhere else?

A few years ago my father-in-law got us a DVD player for the backseat of the car. Until about 2 years ago locally DVDS were still big. Blu Ray never took off. And any wrestling dvd I found used for a buck was a easy sale at 5 or 10 bucks. Had a decent side business going selling cult/horror/tv shows on dvd. I think a big part of it is locally for years the internet was shit. Even if the speed was decent the data caps were so low you couldn't stream much. Now Fiber is all over with unlimited data so dvd sales majorly slowed down.

Flash Gordon newspaper comics just recently became a thing again The same company doing it is also making new Dick Tracy stories on top of that.

I have that exact feeling whenever they announce a new season of Law and Order: SVU. Especially considering they seemed to have already run out of new ideas about ten years ago, when I last watched.

David Copperfield is STILL doing magic shows. Just saw a TV commercial for the stage show of hypnotist Reveen... they even had the classic "The Man They Call Reveen" jingle... which I found odd because Reveen died about ten years ago. His son is doing the act now, and he looks just like him. You want a hard-copy of Wikipedia, you're gonna pay for it!

I was at a phone store the other day, flip phones are still a thing. I think it's less that it's still a thing and more of a resurgence, likely related to nostalgia and the fact that all smart phones are basically the same thing. Smartphones feel like they're at Malibu Stacy with a new hat level.

I always remembered the TMNT animated show ending in the early 90s. Finding out as an adult that it went to 1996 with stuff like the Red Sky seasons and Lord Dregg was bewildering. Turtles fell off so hard after 1993 in the broader consciousness that even pop culture osmosis didn't allow me to be aware of the show passed that point. It's wild to think the 2003 series was only 7 years after that, and only 5 after the Next Mutation. In turn, it ended a mere 3 years before the Nickelodeon series began. There have really not been many Ninja Turtles droughts since it began.

I'm amazed that landlines were still trying to be sold. A lot if telecoms are phasing them out completely or charging so much it makes no economic sense for the consumer.
As far as flip phones go, about once a year I'll hear that familiar click of the phone closing at the grocery store or other public place and I'll almost dislocate a vertebrae in my neck turning my head to see it.
I still have a flip phone in my closet of bygone tech that will go to museum some day along with my serial cables, zip drive disks, and floppy drives.

Yeah, and I thought the TMNT 3 movie was super late on the bandwagon... but no. Like the wrestlers still being in [X] company unexpectedly, but with, everything else. I got the thought from listening to It Was A Thing On TV's review of the 1987 Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, where they marvel on how Cabbage Patch Kids were still a thing by then. I mean Cabbage patch kids are still a thing now...

I held out on getting a cell until 2006. When I moved the next year just kept the phone I had. And would have still had it ,but in 2019 it fell out of my pocket and into the lake. Went to local verizon store and they had one flip phone, some refurbushed brick. Was told it was 80 bucks. Paid that and the next month there was another 40 bucks added onto my bill. So yea 120 for that thing. Mostly held onto the old phone cause since 2010 lots of weekends I am traveling to rural areas for shows. And not sure why by flip phones get service in areas that smart phones dont. Back in spring finally upgraded. Bought some Galaxy thing for 60 bucks and all I use it for is making calls. But at least it is lighter than the brick.

I just saw commercials for two different types of Furby. Furby's been making a comeback lately. And on that note, I'm surprised about the push that Garbage Pail Kids has been getting in the last couple of years (wonder if Art Spiegelman is still working on them).
