From a sentimental/nostalgia standpoint, the SNES.
From a quality of library (including backwards-compatible) it's the Xbox One.

I'll always have a soft spot for the Gamecube.

3DS, hands down. It has a crazy deep library of its own, between original releases, makes and remasters and then you throw DS compatibility on top and you have an absolute powerhouse. The only thing you could argue is a contender to it is a PS2 or a launch model PS3 with BC (and not dead, ideally).

There’s been systems with better graphics and bigger selling titles, but developers were giving the Sega Genesis some crazy groundbreaking stuff and insane variety in its library. The Sega Channel was very much a “you had to be there” thing.

It wasn't my first console but for me it's the Xbox 360. Xbox live was my first real experience with online gaming and teenage me absolutely loved it. 360 also introduced me to many of my all time fav games that I still play to this day.

10. Wii - it was an impulsive buy at a time when my interest in new games was starting to wake. Enjoyed the heck out of some games like Punch Out Wii and Boom Blox, but felt the motion controls were unnecessary for games like Mario Galaxy. This is also the only Nintendo console that broke on me.
9. Genesis - while I only owned one briefly in the early 00's...I still spent a large chunk of the early 90's playing this at friends' houses. Sonic, Streets of Rage, Toejam and Earl, Echo the Dolphin and that annoying Jurassic Park game. I wanted a Genesis so badly as a kid!
8. PC - I think this should count, especially if we're talking mid 90's when this was the only real way to play Doom. Played a lot of those "Trail" games too.
7. Gameboy - OG Gameboy was kind of a hassle and not really that cool. Pokemon Red and Blue completely changed that, and completely revitalized handheld gaming. Many many hours were spent in Diglett Cave and the Safari Zone.
6. Gamecube - completely passed on this initially as I had moved on from Nintendo. Saw my best friend playing Super Mario Sunshine, and really got into it myself. Ended up with one by Christmas spending a lot of hours on Sunshine, Melee and Mario Party 4.
5. N64 - completely wowed when I went over to my friend's house and he showed me the newest Nintendo console. Hearing Mario talk absolutely blew my mind. However since my family was poor and I was 11, I didn't get a chance to own one until the hype REALLY died down around 1999, and that was only because my sister stole one from Blockbuster Video. Spent a lot of time with Star Fox, Paper Mario and Mario Party 3. I bought my own in 2002 for $20.
4. PS2 - first system I casually just went out and bought. I waited until Metal Gear Solid 2 came out and bought both on launch day. And while MGS2 ended up being pretty disappointing, a coworker of mine invited me over to his apartment to show me this game called Grand Theft Auto 3. While I was familiar with the earlier installments, this one completely blew me away and I immediately had to go out and buy it. Unfortunately, that was right when 9/11 happened and there was a small ban, forcing me to buy it on eBay for nearly $100, but it was worth it though. Also spent many hours playing Smackdown Here Comes the Pain.
3. PS1 - first system I had to buy on my own. I initially wanted an N64, but with money being tight, I had to wait until I could get a summer job mowing lawns. During that time, PS1 got more popular and I went to a friend's house to play WCW Nitro and I was blown away. Not only that, he had a demo disc that let me try other games, which I enjoyed immensely. I even saved up enough money from mowing and painting and was able to buy one, along with Tomba. I remember being annoyed at needing to use memory cards, but honestly that was something looking back which made sense. I also loved playing Ape Escape, Tony Hawk Pro Skater, Metal Gear Solid, Spyro and Crash Bandicoot. I never bought WCW Nitro.
2. SNES - my first system. Remember how I said I really wanted a Genesis as a kid? Well, I begged my dad for one for my birthday. The day came and I opened this enormous present to find an SNES instead. While I was ecstatic (beggars can't be choosers), I asked my dad why he didn't get a Genesis. He told me that when he went to Toys R Us, the employee told him that Genesis wasn't as good as the SNES. When my dad stated that a Genesis was what I wanted, the employee flat out said that I didn't know what I wanted. And technically...he was correct. While I do love Genesis, this was around the time when SNES was starting to really show off what it could do with Star Fox and Donkey Kong Country. Absolutely was addicted to this, and along with said titles I would rent a ton of games from Blockbuster until I could save up money to buy games like Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures, Super Mario RPG and was gifted Super 3D Noah's Ark...which at the time I thought was an amazing game.
1. NES - while I didn't own one growing up, I did grow up playing one. First system I remember playing, and spent a ton of time playing (or usually) watching friends play. Ended up buying one brand new when I was 16, at the time the retro market basically saw them as old and unnecessary...which is how I got the system for $100 along with 30 boxed games. I think the reason I put this at number one is because video games were still the wild west when the NES was on shelves, and the sheer amount of diverse games were great, whether it was Super Mario Bros. Adventures of Lolo, Maniac Mansion, Deja V, Legend of Zelda, Snake Rattle N Roll or Caveman Games...they all felt like their own special unique game...and to me, there's far more of those here than on any other console. I would end up owning over 200 games for my NES, all of which are immensely enjoyable.

SNES and N64 are tied for the best memories. Everything else is very far down the list.
Some of the best times of my life were spent with great friends, sitting on the couch and playing together.

Currently, my Steam Deck.
All-time, I feel like the PS2 has the most solid argument.
But for me personally, I always find myself going back to the Dreamcast and Genesis. I was a total Sega kid growing up, I was all-in on Genesis, wanted a Saturn badly but my parents thought I was fine with the Genesis, and got my a Dreamcast Christmas of 99. Still have my childhood Genesis console from 31 years ago (still functions even), am on my second Dreamcast (lens busted on the original) and even got around to getting a Saturn. Just something about games from that time, the style, the presentation....just clicks for me. Retro games in general do, but Sega just felt more focused on stuff I like.

The first true American gaming system ever made, the Intellivision Amico.
But really my vote is on either the GameCube or Nintendo 64.

For me, it's definitely the 360. Thinking of all the great games that came out during that console generation, but especially the console exclusive Gears Of War series.

SNES, N64, and Gamecube probably make up the biggest proportion of my favorite games ever. Likely most inclined to say SNES.
