Is it just me, or is there weirdly no hype for this Super Bowl? It just feels like for the past week it's just all sort of been ho-hum, let's get to Sunday. You'd figure the first Super Bowl ever in Las Vegas would have a little more pomp, pageantry, and showmanship to it, but even Media Day - the most overhyped day devoted to excess on the NFL calendar - didn't produce anything interesting beyond Travis Kelce getting booed by the live fans and George Kittle booking WrestleMania's main event.

A lot of it is because this matchup seemed to be fairly predictable. Most people wanted any other combination, so when Baltimore drew up the dumbest gameplan possible and Detroit puked all over themselves, people just kinda shrugged and went "ah well"

About the only thing going on is the Chiefs getting booed and them leaning into being the villain.

I think it's just because it's 2 whole weeks, which somehow feels longer than it is. Like, a lot of stuff happens out there in sports (and elsewhere) that takes up the news and attention for all those days while NFL just lays low until 2 or 3 days before the big Sunday. As for Media Day, that ain't quite what it used to be I don't think. Even in the few years before the pandemic, Media Day was feeing not as crazy as it used to. More subdued and safer.

Because the Chiefs are just going to win again. There’s no intrigue here. The Lions would have at least been new. Here we just have the dynasty beating a team that can’t hang. And everyone knows it.

You’re like the bizzaro world Mecca here. You vomit all over your team despite the fact they have a damn good chance of winning, they just can’t come out flat lie they’re last game cuz the Chiefs aren’t going to just quit

This thing is in Vegas…so whichever team doesn’t OD on hookers in the lead up will win.
Shanahan looked blasted during his media day interview. lol

I'm just hoping this year isn't won by a mid performance and a QB Kneel like last year was.

Had I posted my picks, I would have gone 1-1 last weekend, 7-5 overall in the playoffs.
- San Francisco 30, Kansas City 24: Whoever dictates the pace of this game will determine who hoists the Lombardi Trophy. San Francisco probably wants to get the ball into the hands of their playmakers and let them zip all over the field, whereas the Chiefs are likely much more content running long, methodical drives that eat up chunks of clock. I think early on in the game, we'll learn if this is going to be San Francisco hanging 30 and Kansas City hoping to revert back to the Tyreek/Kelce era, or if the Chiefs can dictate the pace and keep it a low-scoring game in the teens or 20s. Because of all the blue chip talent they have all over the field, I'm leaning 49ers, but I wouldn't be surprised if the chameleon Chiefs change their colors and play a whole new type of game, as we've seen from them basically throughout this entire playoff run.

The headspace of these 2 teams is very different...the Chiefs are business as usual.
The 49ers are whining about just about anything and everything possible.

You’d be screaming up a storm if you had to practice on a shitty field and got false fire alarms in the Chiefs facility at 6am. And you’d be cheering on your team if / when they cried for the league wanting to take the golden team down or whatever.

The chiefs have practiced at a college facility multiple times for SBs, they never complained.

I'll do a quick breakdown.
The things that usually are most important in big games are.
Coaching, with the matchup being Reid and Spagnuolo vs Shanahan and Wilks
I say advantage Chiefs.
QB-advantage Chiefs Defense-advantage Chiefs
And Kicker which is a large Chiefs advantage
At the end I don't know how much all that matters as I think the moment is to big for Purdy and he makes mistakes. Mahomes will be surgical against a defense he's been good against in the past.
Some calls I have for this are McDuffie with a pick 6 and Pacheco is real dark horse for MVP.
Chiefs 31 Niners 13

Nor Buffalo, yet they won those games. Matter of fact I'd argue both those teams are better than the 49ers. This isn't who was good on November 1 the 49ers were great then..but they look to have peaked early.

Even if the Chiefs are better in every facet(they’re not) all the 49ers have to do is be better than them for one game.
That said; I’m sure that KC will win because that’s what the NFL wants. They want a new evil empire and to have Taylor Swift up there at the trophy presentation and getting interviewed, etc.
At the end of the day the NFL is an entertainment business. 🤷🏻♂️
