That promo got me really pumped for Cody/Rock for the title at Mania.

Good promo, but the stuff about the Chiefs & Jazz didn't make sense. Cody took the loss like a man, worked his arse off for a year and earned the right by winning the Rumble to challenge Roman. I figure that can be chalked up to heels lie. We all know that Roman only won due to interference. We all know that Cody got more than a 3 count on Roman (for that matter, so did basically all of Roman's challengers). The only problem was the ref was unconscious. Rock playing it like people are in the wrong for expecting the royal rumble winner to main event Wrestlemania, seems like some solid heel tactics. I’ve seen a lot of people online (not here) take the very obvious bullshit heel saying very obvious heel bullshit at face value, when it’s all clearly laid out for Cody to put Rock in his place with a rebuttal promo.

Rock about to treat Roman and the Bloodline like they’re Faarooq and the Nation. Hope we get a segment where Rock gives Roman a framed picture of himself as a gift.

Yeah Rock proved he’s always had it, never lost it, just felt like he had to play good guy Dwayne Johnson for his acting career. Now the gloves are off and he’s a board member. He can go back to being what he was.
This will be a great run.

That promo got me really pumped for Cody/Rock for the title at Mania. This is a risk they're running honestly. Roman is over I get it, but Rock overshadowed him Cody and Rock are both pretty greatly overshadowing your record breaking double world champion at the moment. Could balance out, but it still feels like Rock stepped aside without actually stepping aside.

Hmmm....(For context, it's a particular line Rock says that seems like he's addressing Cody, but could be addressing Roman instead...) There's also the fact that Dwayne threw up more of an L than the Bloodline taunt.

That was The Rock cutting a Rock promo and not Dwayne Johnson trying to be The Rock. Great stuff.

Preface: I’ll take this a million times over whatever good guy pr face of the world shtick he’s been using since 2011.
But it did feel like he was coming off too strong for me. Gave me early Hogan nWo vibes where hogan hadn’t really slipped into his standard heel persona yet. Think part of it is age, and part of it is he hasn’t done heel in a while (whilst trying to be the exact opposite on screen and off) so it’s gonna take some getting used to. Like re riding a bike or getting into an old jacket. Again, I’ll take this a million times over whatever else he would have done, im just nitpicking.
I think what will help is his interacting and his relationships with Paul, solo, Jimmy and Roman.

Well, he had become accustomed to soaking… up the adoration of the fans. This is either the best comment or you have no idea. IYKYK

Like, we had no direct interaction with Cody, Seth, or even Triple H. If he had someone to bounce off, it’d prove a bit more interesting.

I went into that expecting to hate it as I do with most things he does in wrestling but that was somewhat fun. I think it was the sheer not giving a f*** that did it. He wasn't worried about offending sponsors or fans or the network or anything, he was out there to make you hate him and I miss that in mainstream wrestling. Too much worry about negative attention. It why I love MJF and a lot of indie heels. It was entertaining and left me ready for Cody to come out and take him down.

Yea, and maybe it’s made to just establish that he’s a heel now, but again, it’s like a dude that age putting on his letterman jacket again after two decades. Going to take some getting used to.

So, are we getting Austin as Cody’s equalizer versus the Rock? Is Seth Rollins not good enough for everyone? What's that? He's not? Okay, fair enough. You can do the tag with Rollins on night 1 and then Rollins has a title match on night 2 with the winner of the Elimination Chamber. And then have Austin do the run-in during the main event of night 2

So, are we getting Austin as Cody’s equalizer versus the Rock? Too bad AEW and WWE can't get along. This would be perfect for Dustin to make sure Cody gets to achieve what he and Dusty couldn't.

Heel Rock is maybe my all-time favorite character. I'm expecting this to be short lived like it was in 2003 though.
I hope we get to see him interact with some other characters outside of Bloodline/Cody/Seth. Maybe not full-on mini feuds like he had with Hurricane but even a backstage segment with Dom, a promo with LA Knight, etc.

I guess it was intentional, but it was wild that the longest reigning champ of this era was just a background character for The Rock's part of the segment.

Good promo, but the stuff about the Chiefs & Jazz didn't make sense. It's too bad that Rock didn't mention that the Jazz would accept the loss like men, o KY to come back the next year and get destroyed again. Then Karl "elbows to the face" Malone would try to get a guaranteed ring with the Lakers...only to get schooled again.

Saw it pointed out that Rock turns and points at Roman when he says, "I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure you walk out of Mania as a loser," so that might well mean something.

It's because he forgot to deliver the punchline with the Jazz. They got the rematch in the finals but they lost. He was trying to make a Cody comparison

I guess it was intentional, but it was wild that the longest reigning champ of this era was just a background character for The Rock's part of the segment. One of my big complaints about Roman during his Superman face push was that he always had such a lack of presence, especially when feuding with badasses like Brock and Joe. Kinda felt that way watching that promo. Maybe it was intentional, but that stoic Head of the Table schtick was looking like small potatoes compared to how charismatic Rock was. Could be the point for all we know.
