Malakai and Miro are both guys I long spent wanting to see as major stars and I thought it was going to happen in AEW then it turns out nope, both of them can't get out of their own way long enough.

Maki Itoh. I thought she'd be signed as soon as travel restrictions allowed it, she wants to, but TK has no interest. Weird as her few appearances were memorable and she's only got better since. Personally glad she hasn't, rather see he most weeks in tjpw and gcw than have her disappear for months in aew. Honestly? John Silver ,but like everyone on the dark order tony Khan decide to f*** then over and over That's such a weird one. He's one of those youd think all promotors would want, particularly kid friendly while still being popular with the general audience. Or was back when an over face. Could be used to warm up the crowd in the lower card at least but is barely used.

Jay Lethal - while he had clearly long passed his peak I thought that being a former ROH champ and one of the charismatic highlights of TNA during its peak he'd be used more than a silent goon. His work is still good (in many ways he was the ideal choice to be San Marino for the Continental Classic) and he seems content to collect a paycheck but its difficult to believe that the current dull as dishwater incarnation and the man who cut that promo on Ric Flair in 2010 are the same wrestler.

I don't know what happened to him after he left TNA. But when he became THE guy in ROH during the Sinclair era, he became like a vacuum of charisma. The baggage around him being accused of sexually harassing Taeler Hendrix and possibly other women in ROH doesn't exactly warm him up to people, either.

Malakai's one of the guy TK really needs to do more with. I get House of Black is popular and all, but there's a lot you could do with Malakai as a singles guy.

A few names comes to mind for me
Joey Janela but fell out of favor randomly later on.
Jimmy Havoc but he couldn't keep his junk at bay or his hands to himself
Big Swole but I think her sickness hindered her wrestling ability a lot and then fell out of favor
Private Party but injuries happen
Lance Archer but injuries happen
Miro but...God only knows what happened
Bea Priestley but...WWE came calling and she jumped ship
Brian Jr. but too green and lack of creative direction did him in

He's gone now but I really thought Joey Janela was going to be one of the early breakouts. Darby Allin wound up being a younger, better and just all around cooler version of Joey so it never really happened.

Joey Janela is a weird one too. I think he's just too inconsistent for TV.
Give him a gimmick match and a relatively unique opponent he shines. However within the confines of a weekly standard tv wrestling match, not so much.
In aew if he can't do the standard then he can't get the special. Wheras in gcw he's first in line to face the likes of Ibushi, Veny or Kasai even if his previous 5 matches were meh. They were all great too.

Nobody's fault because of health and injuries, but Keith Lee.

Nobody's fault because of health and injuries, but Keith Lee. That one's really tragic. He's been cursed with bad luck in the past four years.

The answer for me is definitely Keith Lee
He's had one of the unluckiest runs I've ever seen from a wrestler in like any promotion.

Malakai just being a trios guy now instead of doing singles matches as often as Brody King and Buddy Matthews is weird, too. Meltzer said it's because he's very hard to work with and doesn't like taking jobs... which I find slightly hard to believe after we had to sit through months of that Cody angle where he lost the feud. Then again, he hasn't had a real major singles run since then, or singles matches since then.

Malakai i thought was going to be one of THE stars of AEW after his epic debut but he's just felt kinda there for a while now. If anything Brody King and Julia Hart feel more important in his namesake group.
I also thought Pac was going to be one of the top guys in the company. I loved 205 Live when he was champ and he improved so much during that time that i thought he was a can't miss guy. The WWE never really capitalised on him so when he was announced for AEW he was one of the reasons i wanted to watch it. But between injuries and the pandemic he just never reached that level which is a real shame because when he does wrestle he's amazing.
And of course different circumstances i know but Brodie Lee was on his way to becoming one of the top heels. Makes you think of what could've been if he had had more time.

Yeah, it's really hard to do much with a guy you know is gonna balk at the idea of looking at the lights. My answer for this tho Jay White. Yes, he's in a prominent position but he really should be a constant main event threat. Not his fault, not TK's fault, the company is just so f***ing top heavy that guys are gonna get lost in the shuffle and he's one of them. And it's not likely to improve with Ospreay and (possibly) Okada coming in

I can't really blame it all on booking because he's had mental and physical health issues (and who knows if there's any truth to the stuff about him not wanting to do jobs), but as someone who's been a huge Malakai fan since the moment I first saw him in NXT it's been a very disappointing past couple years to say the least.

Miro
Malakai Black
Ethan Page - disappeared
Top Flight -- but injuries destroyed their push as a team, so I don't think this counts
