Ethan Page is one of those guys I can recognize has a lot of talent and probably should be used more, but also someone I myself kinda shrug my shoulders at. AEW just has so much talent and he doesn't really stand out to me amongst them. Miro is someone I thought would have been world champ by now but seems to be a guy who's only creative plans for himself involves winning the title and then just not losing, while being cucked by his wife in the story. Starting to see why Tony didn't go all in on him. Miro's entire career arc baffles me. Everyone is excited to see what he does freed from the chains of "Either he's a Cold War-era Eastern Bloc stereotype, or he's being cucked by his wife.", to see what he does with AEW's creative freedom. Well, he comes in as "The Best Man", Kip Sabian's gamer buddy who drags a MAME Cabinet (or possibly a Pandora's Box) around with him everywhere. Not off to a great start. Then he gets some momentum going doing his "Redeemer" gimmick, but that stalls out after he loses the TNT belt. So now, Miro's got to pitch his own idea, his make-or-break angle. ...which is him getting cucked by his wife, AGAIN. Like, that's approaching Aron Rex levels of 'oof'. Don't forget that he was gone for months between the reedemer angle and the cuck angle...

AS others have said, Janela was hyped up as a huge signing. Unfortunately, Joey's his own worst enemy with that. To go with the Sadie Gibbs shout, AEW had big plans for Bea Priestly, but again she was her own worst enemy and ended up pretty universally hated for only working a few shows. Bea was the one who legit KO’d Brit at the first Fyter Fest right?

Kip Sabian
Rush
Lee Moriarty. I didn't really expect him to be world champion, by this point, but I did expect him to be about on Daniel Garcia's level.
Best Friends and The Dark Order, just baffling how little TK sees in them.
I never believed Starks or Hobbs would get a real main event shot, but it's annoying my cynicism there is so correct.
This is absolutely the worst aspect of AEW, for me. They have this amazing roster, and the dude in charge just completely lacks the attention span to use most of it.

That's the dark side of the Forbidden Door. The cool side is that we get to see Ishii, Suzuki, and CMLL Luchadores showcasing themselves in losing efforts. The not-so-cool side is that a lot of people don't get any TV time.

But didn’t become one or hasn’t yet that surprises you? I’m gonna go with Red Velvet. She’s got a fun name and a good look. Remember when it was Velvet and Cody vs Shaq and Jade? She seemed like she was going to be one of the mainstays for the women’s division, but she’s hardly ever used. She was also on the shelf for most of a year at the very least with a knee injury and is just barely getting back in the mix.

I am surprised how little Rush has been used since the Continental Classic. He is a great sadistic bastard. Starks and Hobbs have lost a lot of the shine they had a year or two ago. I thought both had potential to be future world champions.

Rush is coming back soon and is teasing adding new male and female members to LFI. I'm excited for that fact. Rush has been fantastic since coming to AEW and LFI is a cool faction so far.

Pumped to hear that, the C2 was a breakout run for him and he did it with a torn hamstring, so I really wanna see LFI breakout

Wardlow I thought would been the guy that been World Champion by now. The guy was so over, than boom cut his hair and did nothing for months. Black: I figure he been in big singles feuds if not ME a few PPVs. After the stuff with Cody it seems that where he be. Red Velvet: Like someone said. After being involved with a match with Shaq and Jade, you think she was primed for something major. Miro: Should been bigger out of the gate but did that weird video game and best man thing. Hobbs: His up and down pushing. At first I thought this is going to be a big deal.

I think Red Velvet still has potential. I don't think she was quite ready for the role early on, and the injuries have hampered her a bit... plus other women were signed or stepped up in the same time. She does look as good in the ring as ever since returning recently though so hopefully she can build on that.
I'm more curious about lists people have of acts AEW/TK thought would be big but didn't. I'd add Scorpio into this, and I am pretty sure if injuries/arrests didn't happen I think Tony thought Jake Atlas would be huge in AEW

She's still pretty new in the grand scheme of wrestling, and if anything, I think she's benefiting from the pond getting bigger - she got prominent-ish spots in a small and ramshackle women's roster, now she's a steady hand on a very good women's roster. Given she doesn't have a killer gimmick and needed a little more refining of her in-ring style, I think Velvet's actually way better positioned as a JTTS today than she was as a token title defense in 2021.

Ethan Page - I might be in the small minority here, but I loved him and Scorpio Sky when they were with American Top Team. I could never understand the hate ATT got in AEW because to me the angles they did, especially with Jericho and the Inner Circle were awesome.
Butcher and the Blade with the Bunny - I thought this group as a trio had an amazing look. Bad ass power tag team who looked scary and a sexy manager who would cheat to help their team. They to me should have been in the upper group of tag teams
Private Party - unfortunately injuries got in the way and kept costing them momentum. I did have a random thought that Dante Martin would be really cool as a member of the Blackpool Combat Club.
Malakai Black - He should have been a singles champion by now (TNT, not world) and he should have main evented a AEW Heavyweight Championship match by now. Unfortunately, he either had personal issues, injuries, being difficult to work with, etc... has cost him what could be a spot in AEW's top 5.
Dark Order - they put on great matches (always lose though) and are constantly entertaining. For whatever reason, TK never does anything with them. To me it is a group that should be on tv regularly and have good mid card feuds. BTW... when DO turned on Hangman Page, why did they drop this angle? To me this was an angle to propel them up the standings. It just seemed so weird that this angle was dropped with no resolution. Put Anna Jay back with them as the new leader of DO. They need to have Anna help them embrace the evil and become massive heals.

Most of the hate for ATT is less for Sky and Page and more for Dan Lambert and especially the feud with Sammy Guevara where Sammy came off as unlikable (if not even worse) as the heels.
