That does look like David but from what I can gather there is nothing anywhere that says that is him let alone that he is in this movie and if that was him that would be insane that no one realized it. A few people have mentioned it on social media, and the resemblance is deinitely there. If it is him I'm not surprised there's nothing anywhere that says it's him, as according to all available sources there's only about five people in this movie.

As long a process it has been to do this movie, cycling through writers, directors, and actors the entire time, it kind of makes sense to me that the version that gets greenlit is someone going to the executives and saying, "What if it's like John Wick, but he doesn't have to dodge the bullets."
As much as they probably spent before ever filming a single frame, that's probably the only way they actually got to do the daggone film. That said, I hope it does incredibly well so that they can make a sequel and perhaps lean further into the source material when they have the safety of success behind them instead of the fear of a write-off.
I talked to a younger co-worker about the film and they had no real knowledge of the existence of the original film (although they still knew of the movie where the actor died, so Brandon Lee's aura is still out there in the world) but were also happy of the idea of seeing Bill Skarsgard in a brooding role where he'd obviously been told to do a lot of crunches.

No surprise there. Opening your movie in the same release block as Furiosa, Bad Boys 4, and A Quiet Place 3 after the internet collectively laughed in your trailer's face is a smart move.
Releasing in the same block as Alien: Romulus and Kraven the Hunter is a much safer option.
