They can do that without Roman getting totally overshadowed by not only The Rock, but Cody and Seth as well. The story is Roman getting overshadowed by the Rock is what I’m saying. That’s the story. That’s why he felt insecure and made The Rock acknowledge him last week. That’s whats going to end up driving the wedge between them, whether it ends with Roman turning face or Rock. If this was like a 6 month title reign or something, it wouldn’t be as big of a deal. But Roman was positioned as THE final boss since 2020. The Rock/Roman shit could have happened later, or hell just make Rock a special enforcer for mania only appearing in one or two episodes. It would be like if Goku got the spirit bomb ready for Majin Buu only for a new villain to appear then and there to overshadow him. The only positive thing the tag match accomplishes IMO is getting Seth his mania main event

That’s whats going to end up driving the wedge between them, whether it ends with Roman turning face or Rock. That's the story, but they didn't need to tell this story. Like, I understand that "the story they are telling is one where that happens, I acknowledge that in my post, but it's dumb to me that that's the story they're telling because it minimizes the guy the entire company has been built around. On the biggest show and on the eve of him finally putting someone over, minimizing him is a terrible decision. Roman should look either at his strongest so that Cody can take down the insurmountable, or at his most paranoid and unhinged so that the sum total of what characterization they've given him over the past few years reaches a boiling point. Putting The Rock in front of him to cut overlong promos doesn't put him in focus at the time where it really matters to. They can construct a story to get him and Rock into a ring together without looking at the build for the main event of Wrestlemania like it's got to start selling the match for Summerslam before the bell's even rung. My view is that Roman-Cody being built as just a rematch of last year and trying to take out Roman one on one to end his dominant reign would have been a more boring story than what we’ve had, and essentially a repeat of last year’s build. The story now is that Roman’s Bloodline is stronger than ever and Cody needs to assemble his “Avengers” to help him beat Roman under Bloodline Rules Night 2, which will give everyone that cathartic moment on night 2 where the Bloodline is run off by Jey, Sami, Seth (maybe Austin) and Roman is left one on one for the final sequence to lose to Cody. Simultaneously a second underlying story is being built involving tension between Roman and Rock, which is the beginnings of what will be the post-Mania Bloodline story. Obviously Rock being so involved at all is a big story too so when he makes appearances it will be the A part of the story that night. But the overarching story is still Roman/the Bloodline being dominant and Cody overcoming those odds to win the title.

Just have Roman actually assert his authority and grow increasingly paranoid that The Rock isn't here to help Roman, he is here to replace him at the head of the table.

The way they’re doing it is a better way to turn Roman face if that’s the route they’re going. The way you lay it out is maybe better if Rock is the one turning face. And this route is 1000% the more entertaining route because Rock as a heel running his mouth is money.

They can still have The Rock heel during this program and build to a match between Reigns/Rock down the line by having Reigns grow paranoid.

I would be shocked if Rocky is the heel in his match vs Roman and ends his career as the bad guy. I feel like it’s all a ruse to have the Rock turn on Roman and win back the fans

I feel like it’s all a ruse to have the Rock turn on Roman and win back the fans At first I thought Rock might be playing them and secretly working with Cody but now I'm doubting that. He seems to be enjoying being a heel and I think he'll want to do it for more than another couple weeks. And fans have been desperate to cheer Roman for 1-2 years now. The only thing keeping him heel is that he has to have that big title loss moment to narratively wrap up this heel run. Once he drops the title I think it would be a struggle to keep him heel for another year. I see it playing out like Rock pins Cody to win the tag match night 1. Cody beats Roman night 2. The Raw/Smackdown after Mania Roman accepts his defeat and shows some humility. Rock says he got his end of the job done but Roman didn't and the elders have anointed him as Tribal Chief. He puts a hit out on Roman who is written out for a while. Rock v Cody at Summerslam/Rumble ends with Roman returning as a face to get revenge. Roman v Rock at Mania 41. Roman wins then handshake/respect after the match. The Bloodline saga is over and Rock retires/goes into the hall of fame.

Rock vs. Cody is too big a match to just relegate it to a tag match, so having it at Summerslam, the Rumble, or a Saudi card makes sense.
