I wouldn't have a big issue with the spot if if the shards didn't go flying into the crowd. It would've put a damper on things if someone got hurt because of a stunt. But also it is a really dumb stunt to not have anything but glass break your fall. I agree with that, you're really playing with fire having shards of glass go flying into the crowd. And I'm also not saying the spot was the safest thing that's ever happened in wrestling, but at the end of the day it was a flat back bump through a thin pane of breakaway glass with chairs set up to slow momentum performed by a guy who is one of the best there's ever been in wrestling at taking that exact bump as safely as you can possibly take it. It just looked more dangerous than it actually was in my opinion (which isn't to say it wasn't dangerous at all - it was - it just looked like one of the most death-defying spots in the entire history of wrestling). Darby is very, very good at doing things that look more dangerous than they actually are, in my opinion. Wrestling is a dangerous as hell. I've seen Darby do a lot of crazy **** on the indies. But still one of the craziest dudes I've seen in wrestling today for better or worse.

It's not going to be for everyone but I liked it. I might feel different if he was seriously hurt but from all accounts he's fine so...
I'd definitely caution AEW about using real glass so close to the crowd in the future though.

Darby is the same man who willingly jumped over a house after telling his boss he's gonna do it so this is no surprise

I'd definitely caution AEW about using real glass so close to the crowd in the future though. My stance is, yeah, more consideration for audience safety in the future, and also, now that you've done this spot, you don't need to do it again. No diminishing returns, leave this as a "crazy thing that happened that one time".

Darby: What if I put a Glass panel in this match next to yours.
Haha just kidding
Unless...?

I don't think Darby would have been as cut up if he hasn't clipped a chair as he hit the glass. That caused him to bounce and created just enough separation from the glass to let the pieces shift and him hit the edges rather than go crashing through and it crunching flat underneath him.

Darby is the same man who willingly jumped over a house after telling his boss he's gonna do it so this is no surprise Yeah as soon as that glass started coming out from under the ring I knew what was coming. I just didn’t know he’d do it from the top of MEGA LADDER and fall from, like, 20 feet straight to the floor. One of THOSE spots I’ll always remember regardless of the bloody result.

For what it's worth, I know of someone that was able to get several table pieces and glass shards after the show and the glass was "sharp AF."

Insane spot and Darby is a madman for doing it. But hearing shards of glass got into the crowd concerned me. Fortunately, it sounds like no one in the crowd got hurt. But if anything like that is planned in the future, they need to put up those clear panes like in hockey to protect the crowd from rogue shards. Might sound like overkill, but those panes exist because rogue pucks would go into the crowd and cause serious injury and even deaths. Same with baseball stadiums putting up nets to prevent those things with hi-speed foul balls and splintered bats.

Gotta make Darby look strong before he does the job to Everest I am so happy to report upon seeing if there was an actual wrestler named "Everest", like complete with Everest mountain backdrop for gimmick photos, that I have come back with actual gold His wife climbs him every night.

Consindering the height of which he well...that had to have been toughened glass and it was more the height of that fall that did the most damage because otherwise that glass wouldn't really do that type of damage.
So there was no reason for Darby to fall from that height other than to basically try and kill himself so typical Darby.

I don't want to see Darby get hurt I'm hoping he won't do nothing like this again but it's Darby and I know he throws caution to the wind

I would love to see Darby win the title and become AEW World Champion by the end of the year or early next year. Dude deserves it and is easily the top 5 MVP's of AEW.

Yeah, it was always going to be a bad idea, but the execution probably made it worse in terms of the cuts.

I should also note I think Darby is due for a really good singles run. He’s earned it. He’s a maniac, but he’s also a very talented dude. One of a kind in many ways.

As soon as they set the glass up on those chairs I would have bet my life savings on Darby going through that. Which took away from the spot for me because I saw it coming. The two table bumps on the ramp way and the last table Nicolas went through had more impact because I didn’t see them coming.
At least put a t shirt on next time Darby please!

my big worry is what he's going to do to escalate from this... since he already did basically the same spot onto the chairs multiple times...
