Any time Cornette's name gets uttered we get a varying mix of doubt he says bigot shit, Cornette fans who get self-conscious because of the (rightful) attitudes toward his fanbase that make them then do a big oopsie and push back against criticism of him, and just like, actual racists who wanna gish gallop and 'just as questions' in his defense. Thankfully that last one's been heavily moderated out of board existence compared to four or five years ago, but god I unironically wish people could just say "praising racket man bad" without having to go into three pages of this junk. If people really wanna listen to a hypocrite and a bigot because in between his xenophobia he'll tell some fun Midnight Express stories, then at least make the rationalizations about how that's okay and you're not bad for listening to his show full of hateful comments quietly and personally so it doesn't have to keep being everyone else's problem. You're only letting the whole board know what your deal is and maybe you should be self-conscious about that instead.

And the racist joke that got Cornette fired from the NWA was Billy Pumpkins' NWA. The same NWA that made the barely mobile Tyrus' sexual harassing ass their World Champion.

Cornette sucks but thankfully Punk’s reference was obscure to anyone that didn’t already know the names of Cornette’s podcasts (I didn’t even think of Cornette and thought McAfee had other podcasts that Punk was referencing).

And if you (generic "you") ARE that kind of person, why do you even WANT to be here, knowing that, at MOST, there's probably only about a single-digit quantity of other garbage gremlins that agree with your (generic "your") toxic bullshit?

Ugh, Cornette thread.
Which coincides with the "ugh, Cornette reference".

People who immediately jump to defend Cornette whenever he is rightfully criticized are the definition of "telling on yourself".

The kilt thing is a callback to Piper's opponents calling his kilt a skirt. As for Cornette, where does the racist talk come from? I'd like to hear more than just IWC talk though, like actual instances. Don't get me wrong telling New Jack to piss off white people sounds bad today but wrestlers and promoters played up stuff like that because it drew money in certain towns. I'd like to know other instances, I don't listen to his whole podcast, but I do parts of it that interest me so maybe I missed something I'd normally say google is free but well, in the era of enshittification it's probably harder to find stuff in a sea of adverts and AI. So, a few lowlights: - The horrific Islamophobic rant (itself a response to someone calling out his backwards attitudes) that lost him his producer and had MLW having to apologise and distance themselves from him. - The racist joke that got him fired from NWA commentary. He tried to say it wasn't a racist joke but a “starvation joke”. Which of course makes it all ok in his eyes, because apparently the famine in Ethopia was hilarious to him. - The videos of him bragging about a time when he antagonised a black man by using the n-word multiple times. Pretty easy to find though horrific to hear especially since he's practically giggling with glee at his own racism. - Pretty much everything he's ever said about female Japanese wrestlers, fetishising and infantilising them. Equal parts racism and misogyny here. - On that note, saying that Jade Cargill looked like "Shelton Benjamin with a wig". Don't forget about Cornette making transphobic comments about Nyla Rose and Sonny Kiss.

I agree that Seth was the least interesting part of the promo, but he didn’t drag it down too bad or anything.
Drew’s really found something special with this character he’s got going right now. Give him a good run I say.

I honestly don't know why Cornette is even a thing anymore after he basically told Becky Lynch to get an abortion so she could keep wrestling. Can't imagine Seth was too crazy about Punk giving him a shout-out.

I like Jim Cornette. You can type as many paragraphs as you want about him and you're not going to change my mind. This is America and people are allowed to say and think that they want.
It's a little thing called 'freedom'.

It's a little thing called 'freedom'. No one said you can’t like him. People are just pointing out some of the terrible things he’s said in the past, both recent past and long ago. Also not sure what freedom has to do with anything, this is a message board not a government agency cracking down on your free speech.

This thread will be locked soon. You did this with my "The WWE You Grew Up With is Gone" thread.
That thread wasn't about Vince but you guys made it about Vince so it got locked, the same way this thread isn't about Jim Cornette but you made it about him.
You guys sure love talking about these people you hate. I believe there's a term on the street for that, oh yeah:
Player hater.

Saying Jim Cornette is bad and side-eyeing people who publicly shout him out while also positioning themselves as LGBTQ+ allies (to a community of people who are often very scared in a currently hostile climate where a big fear is that we have a whole lot more fairweather supporters than real ones) is thought policing. But that's okay because I'm Canadian, where freedom was banned in the 1977 when the government mandated all Canadians become ride or die for the band Rush after the release of their album that year, A Farewell to Kings, and forced all who couldn't recite all of Closer to the Heart into reeducation camps.

"It's a little thing called 'freedom'." is up there with "I've been going to the gym for three months and I look better than Ricky Starks" in terms of things I've read on here that will stay with me forever.

But I'm not a bigot, that's inherently the problem. You are painting with such a wide brush it's disgusting. Do you carry yourself like this in real life? You hear someone likes Kevin Spacey so you call them a bigot? Come on, man. That's no way to live your life. Let people like who they want without you calling into their character. Somebody could be the best person ever but if they like Jim Cornette they're a bigot? That seems awful. Judge somebody on their character not their hobbies / preferences over a wrestling show.
