Watching Cena/Rock at Wrestlemania 29 and JBL talks about how if Cena loses he'd be the Marv Levy of wrestling.
Which is odd considering Marv never won a Super Bowl and Cena by that point had won the WWE/World Title at 21, 22, 23, 25, and 26 and his only losses for the belt was 24 and 27. Yeah he lost to The Rock at Wrestlemania 28 but how does losing against The Rock again even if for the belt puts him on the level of someone who could in JBL's words, "Never win the big one."
Especially when Cena started his winning by beating JBL for the belt at 21.
Any other ones that had you go, "Huh?"
That said, this match highlights how bad commentary got in the early 2010s.

I think it was during a match with Goldust that Lawler said he wanted him to cough up a spinal furball. I don't think JR calls him on what the hell that's supposed to mean.

Regal was on the mic during some show in Florida not long after the 2000 election. He was winding the crowd up about the issue with Florida’s vote. JR said something like “what would he know about elections?”. He’s from the UK JR. They’ve been having elections for three centuries.

Dusty Rhodes during Oz's debut entrance: "I ain't seen nothing like this and I've been to two goat ropings and an all-night fair."

Dusty Rhodes during Oz's debut entrance: "I ain't seen nothing like this and I've been to two goat ropings and an all-night fair." Sounds like a TV-friendly version of, “I’ve been to two goat f***ings and the World’s Fair and I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Jesse's Axl Rose comments from Wrestlemania VI. I think he said Robert Goulet reminded him of Axl. They are two total opposites. Plus Gorilla had no idea who Axl was. And it seemed to make Gorilla look foolish he didn't know so he tried very badly to pretend he did. There was only like a 10-12 age year difference between the two but it felt like 20-30 years. Coliseum cut out most of what Jesse said (because they cut out Goulet) so it seemed even more awkward on the VHS. I liked Jesse and Gorilla better but if there was a pop culture reference, Gorilla did better with Bobby.

That one time Jerry Lawler implied that more fans should like John Cena because he's really good at lifting heavy objects at the gym.

I still have no idea if Sexy Star canonically got power from constellations in Lucha Underground, or if it was just Matt Striker making up shit like usual. They never really returned to that thought, most of the time spent trying to put over Sexy Star seemed to be him and Vampiro alluding to her having a hard life that made her strong while never really explaining what they were talking about, or how that made her special considering how messed up Mil Muertes' supposed childhood was, yet he was often a heel.

Speaking of just making shit up, the 2 English announcers they hired for these FMW DVDs in the 90s would constantly say off the wall shit about the reason the Wrestlers were feuding

I liked Jesse and Gorilla better but if there was a pop culture reference, Gorilla did better with Bobby. I'm pretty sure Jesse just said that to mess with Gorilla and either Gorilla didn't or likely being a Frank Sinatra kind of guy and not being into modern Rock, Gorilla probably refused to acknowledge Axl. Granted Gorilla had his fair share of irrational comments. I remember watching an Owen Hart match where he talks about extraneous circumstances that allowed Owen to win. Ted DiBiase on commentary likely actually puzzled asks him, "Like what?" and Gorilla just goes, "You know what I mean". Gorilla likely forgot Owen won clean and realized it during the match. As a broadcaster myself, I can tell you sometimes you say something that makes sense in your head but to no one else.

That was definetly striker adding something on his own. Her story practically from the start was about how her mask saved her life and to escape the trauma in her life it is pivotal to her biggest arc in the show during her feud with Marty the Moth...,nothing about constellations is ever brought up in canon on the show (that I can remember) and if it was it was so early on that they swiftly pivoted to something better so again definetly just one of those moments of Striker hearing a name and going off of that.
