Last year I was livid that Cody lost. This year i can officially say it was the right call IMO. Yeah the title was held hostage for another year but Cody losing to Roman and then clawing his way back up made it well worth it. Do you guys agree or disagree?

In the moment no. In hindsight yes.

As I said in the other thread, I wouldn't have done it at 39 but I can't say it was the wrong decision as it worked out well for most parties involved. Given the question is right or wrong (more opinion-based) versus good or bad (a bit more evidence-based) I will say wrong decision.

Yes because we got here.
No because this was not the plan.

I'm glad they did it tonight, but it still doesn't change last year for me, so I vote no.

Speaking with hindsight, absolutely yes. It was a risky move, but it truly paid off.

For me personally, no
They finished the story, Cody lost.
They made a sequel and almost f***ed THAT up too.
And I feel like nothing Roman did after his win last year really required him having the belt

I'll go with 39 as the right place because simply we did not need another year of Bloodline stuff.
It had no juice left honestly and it made for awful TV most of 2023-24.

I am happy with the outcome but I firmly don't think the ends justify the means. They could have probably gotten here a lot more logically and less annoyingly. Honestly same way I feel with Priest's narrative as MitB holder. Love the end, the path taken to get to that end was some nonsense, imo.

No, because tonight only happened due to fan pushback. Had it been the plan all along for Cody to lose at 39 and win at 40 that would be one thing, but doing Cody/Roman II instead of Rock/Roman was an obvious pivot.

I still say no, if they maybe told more of a story in the year after maybe but 2023 just felt like delaying the payoff with an anime filler arc to just putz around for a year, they got super lucky Cody's popular enough for it to not hit him.
You lose Rock and Taker and have to have Jey turn on Roman during the match, but they could have done the same spots at 39 and it wouldn't have been hugely different.

Even with the benefit of hindsight I'd undo it in a heartbeat if I could.

Just because they were able to tell a new story and make it work doesn’t negate from the fact that Cody losing at the time was a mistake.
It was 100% a mistake. It could have entirely killed his momentum. It didn’t and credit to everybody for making sure that it didn’t, but it could have.
Remember - you couldn’t have Drew win in Wales in front of 60K people because Cody needed to win at WM. You couldn’t have Sami win in Montreal when he was the most white-hot act in wrestling because Cody needed to win at WM.
This could have been a disaster and it wasn’t.

I'm going to throw in another point. 2022-23 Cody was special man. Like he handled all his feuds and he won all his matches.
The momentum was OFF THE CHARTS for him. The return at Wrestlemania 38. The pec injury. The Rumble comeback.
The crowning moment was RIGHT THERE and they blew it.

As epic as this main event was, I agree with everyone else. If this had been the plan all along, then yes, but they lucked out. I also thought last year's match was better.

as much as tonight made me cry, leap like six feet off the ground and hug my kitty, no.
it only changed cause the fans made it so, best case we would have gotten was next year and i seriously doubt they would've just done this next year. if anything this mania proved that bullying works!

Last year's match had much more emotion for us all. Because we all thought he was going to win. We all went in super positive. And collectively WWE crushed our souls. So we were more pessimistic this year, so the magic wasn't there that it was last year.

No, it was not worth it
Dragging the world title scene into the mud for another year to the point you had to make a THIRD World Title was not worth it in the slightest
Like the inclusion of The Rock worked out and all, but no, the deflation of that moment was f***ing iconic in how bad it was and how imo stupid it was and this doesn't undo it, it wasn't even booked well, the Solo interference was f***ing STUPID.
The solace I have is that it finally got to end this time and we didn't see them try and double down on apathy, Vince is truly gone lmfao
