Who do you find to be a great voice actor, not very versatile when it comes their characters?
I was watching Masters of the universe and couldn’t help but hear skeletor and think, hey it’s the joker again. Felt the same way when he was the fire lord on Avatar. I never hear him use his natural like skywalkerish good guy voice. Always evil joker.
I am tempted to say Keith David but he has at least two. Deep brooding scary monster, or sleezy voodoo guy.
Yeardley smith can only be Lisa Simpson. I think she only voiced a different character a handful of times and it was clearly her Lisa voice

It's amazing how much dramatic range he has considering he's always basically just talking in his own voice.

Patrick Warburton has an iconic voice that does not need to change.

I can't abide that one at all. Scott has 3 voices...

I can't abide that one at all. Scott has 3 voices... Yep. Dinobot, Rattrap, and Wolverine. All of his voices are just slight variations on those three voices. Except that brief time he was Majin Buu in the Ocean/Westwood dub of DBZ. That was probably the biggest divergence from his normal typecasting.

Richard Steven Horvitz, but that's mostly becuase his voice is pretty unique.
Some of this is just flat out down to people that hire the voice actors wanting the same as they've done.
Hamil for instance has done a bunch of voices that do not sound like the Joker, like when he's the Trickster he's basically using his own voice, and his Solomon Grundy and Swamp thing voices are different than the others as well.
Blum did Starscream in a transformers that was nothing like his Spike voice... but people hire Steve Blum to be Steve Blum.

Charlie Adler, Tony Jay, and Tim Curry. They only really had one or two voices, but goddamn if they didn't get the most mileage possible out of those voices.

Sterling Holloway.
Lorenzo Music.
Len Carlson is either himself or some variant of Bert Raccoon.
Susan Roman uses her voice with different tones.
Paul Winchell is either Tigger or Gargamel/Dick Dastardly.
Casey Kasem is Shaggy or Robin/himself.
Gary Owens.
James Earl Jones.
Phil Lamarr seems to mostly use his John Stewart voice.
Erika Scheimer.

Mark Hamill's got some tricks in his bag!
Some people have a lot more range than one would expect. They just have a particular "money" voice that they keep getting asked to do.

Patrick Warburton has an iconic voice that does not need to change. Yeah, the characterization might be different but they hired him to sound like Patrick Warburton.

Stephen Root is a good example as it's obvious it's him when you hear Bill Dauterive, Buck Strickland, and other characters. I could tell it was him in "Propane Boom" when he played one of the Mega-Lo Mart employees. When you watch "Dodgeball," he is definitely using his Bill voice.

In Hamill's case, I think it's age too. Like you could kinda hear a bit of Joker in his Luke in the Star Wars sequels and in his regular talking voice lately.

It begins and ends with Lorenzo Music for me.
Yes, his voice is the same, but he adds different cadence to every role he does. Really makes me hate the later Dave Coulier version of Peter Venkman since I think Music got is down perfectly.
