For those who woke up early on Saturday mornings, most stations would have programming before the Saturday Morning lineups, which ones do you remember? The cartoons I remember seeing were:
Transformers Super Saturday (anthology that had Inhumanoids, Bigfoot, Robotix, and Jem) Underdog Cool McCool Mr. Magoo Inhumanoids (once it became a weekly series)
As for Live action, I didnt care much, but I do remember Wonder Woman and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom (though I never really watched those, I'd sit through them if nothing else was on but didnt really pay attention, I was confused why Wild Kingdom would suddenly shill insurance near the end of the show though).

I didn't do it on Saturdays most of the time, but on Sundays they had Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z before I went to church.

Everyone is after my own heart with these threads today. Between this and the Sunday Morning (SunAM?) cartoons. Again, buckle in...
ABC would normally have the classic cartoons, mainly King Leonardo and Dudley Do-Right. (Anything close to Bullwinkle but not Bullwinkle, basically) The Adventures of the Little Prince, the 80s anime, was there too, as was Kids Incorporated. And yes, everyone's favorite...Davey and Goliath.
Bullwinkle proper I believe was on one of the local stations, which became a Fox one.
MAYBE the Avengers (UK) was part of early SatAM fare on ABC?
By the time I was watching Sonic SatAM, they were always preceded by Jack Hanna, I believe.
CBS for the longest time still ran The Patchwork Family, a 70s live action show. For a time NBC had the Cleveland live action/puppet show Hickory Hideout...which a young Kathryn Hahn starred in.
The Kidsongs TV Show. Think (W)NBC carried that in the wee Saturday hours.
Yes I am even going to include the Spanish channels. What would be/became our Univision station had this show "Follow Me" that I was obsessed with. It was an English language tutorial by BBC, with small vignettes in Spanish explaining the lessons. You can probably see the original shows on YouTube.
Random channels: Christopher Closeup, a religious talk show. Memorable in the 80s for having a sign language interpreter in the corner of the entire episode.
Now, on the other end, if I may, how about the shows that let you know SatAM was over? ABC Weekend Specials and American Bandstand are the patron saints of these tropes, with WWF Superstars and GLOW right behind them. Maybe CBS Storybreak fell under this spot too?

I too remember seeing dragon ball z on a Saturday at like 630 on some local channel that only had syndicated programming. Even back than I though “wow this is a really horrible time slot”

Post Saturday morning block memories: Harry and the Hendersons, Captain Planet, mega man, sweet valley high, wmac masters, wwf superstars. The other channel had Had soul train, which I thought was weird for Saturday morning at 11 am for a bunch of funky dancing but you get used to it, so it’s weird whenever they’d have a prime time special

I vaguely remember most of the pre-SatAM shows in my area were more education based. The only one I can specifically still remember and name though is Hickory Hideout.

Most of the local channels were Oof the air until 7am on Saturdays. The few that were on jjust showed a generic 30 minute block of cartoons. Similiar to the ones I saw after school in the late 70s/early 80s.
Would be like a Looney tune followed by woody woodpecker and maybe a T&J short.

From what I've gathered in the US Saturday mornings seemed to be back to back cartoons while in the UK we got live 3 hour 'magazine' shows like Going Live, Live and Kicking etc which had about 2 cartoons and celebrity guests, skits and music performances.

I think there were usually a couple of shows before Going Live/Live and Kicking etc but yeah, Saturday morning kids TV in the UK used to be wacky variety shows with celebrity guests and Trev and Simon. I remember watching several wrestlers on those shows over the years.

My Fox affiliate would air "The Bots Master," which also aired before the afternoon block during the week. There was also a game show that would air called "Pick Your Brain," which had Marc Summers as a host.

I live in northern BC, Canada, in the same town I was born in more than 50 years ago.
(damn I'm old...)
Had one good TV channel, the CBC, forever. Back then, Saturday morning was for sleeping in.
Until we were able to pick up the CTV channel from Edmonton. It wasn't always clear (depended on the weather), but you could see a good show or two.
Still, there wasn't much for cartoons up here back then. I do remember a few shows, one being a family adventure/drama called "Adventures in Rainbow Country" about a widow and her kids running a fishing lodge (and apparently it starred Miss Moneypenny herself, Lois Maxwell, but I wasn't old enough to recognize her), and another being a drama about Heidi.
Sunday morning had religious and educational shows, I remember one called Circle Square.
Then CABLE TV came to town, and we got a good dose of real Saturday morning cartoons.

I remember watching several wrestlers on those shows over the years. A hung over Scott Hall wrestling Mr. Blobby springs to mind there. John Barrowman (Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Arrow fame) co-presented the first series of Live & Kicking too The Racoons used to air before Going Live and Live & Kicking, as did Breakfast Serials, a rather high-brow children's anthology show headed up by a young Russel T. Davies. I remember the stand out show in the anthology was "Nice Chap", the story of a cross between Pee Wee Hermin and Mr. Rogers who talked in rhyme, this being an RTD show, it got just as dark and as scary as his Doctor Who stuff, as Nice Chap battled a super computer and eventually turned evil himself. It's hard to find, but some episodes are on Youtube.

I actually remember a wizard of Oz cartoon The one Margot Kidder narrated? No. Sorry, can’t embed, on a mobile device. youtu.be/NvHWu4PUFnE?si=F7c9f4wCKSnLUkrvThis would have been mid 80’s. Predates the blocks like kids WB and Fox kids.

The Kidder one/anime was on HBO in the late '80s or more likely early '90s. Are you thinking of the DIC series based on the MGM movie by any chance? (EDIT: Yep.)
