Nobody really expected this to be all that great but I thought it was one of the better overall matches WWE has had in the last year.
Severely lacking in stakes, crowd made up for a good bit of it but I think this one deserves a heap of praise even without the crowd. AJ looked closer to the AJ of old, everything flowed well and these two beat the snot out of each other.
What did you think?

I wish AJ was still doing his more 2016 style character, because other than being a bland gimmick right now, he’s putting in his best ring work in a minute. That match was fantastic.

It was a match I figured would be pretty decent but nothing special and wound up being spectacular between the match itself and the insane crowd.

That spot made me mad. You don't use the Burning Hammer unless its the finish; and even then it's like the last resort. You know what... you don't use the Burning Hammer unless you are Kenta Kobashi. Is nothing sacred anymore!
Other than that the match was really good, but I was so not invested in it that it had no hope of ever being "great".

AJ has felt faced more motivated since he’s come back.
Kicking out of the Burning Hammer though, not a fan of that part:

I've been down on AJ, but credit where it's due, dude's bringing it in the ring again. It's like he knows he's going to retire soon-ish and he's motivated to end things on a high note. Now we just need to change his character.

Styles has faced Dusty, Cody & Dustin(via The Rumble) in Word Title matches. That's honestly insane.

I think the sanctity of moves started dying when the DDT became a transition move and may have gone six feet under when the Canadian Destroyer was used as a comedy spot just being no-sold back and forth.

Match ruled. AJ's just gotta ditch this terrible theme.

Match ruled. AJ's just gotta ditch this terrible theme. And get his damn personality back. We know he has it. From TNA to WWE.

If this is how Cody’s run is going to be (outside of any Bloodline-adjacent defenses that are surely going to be shenanigans filled), then he can hold the belt for as long as needed.

Now we just need to change his character. I've always enjoyed his in-ring work personally, main reason he's one of my boys but his character work has always been up-and-down for me personally.

Absolutely incredible match. AJ Styles really just can't do no wrong. He's really staking his claim to be the GOAT.
This whole show was incredible and better than WrestleMania.

I wasn't a big fan of this match. It had poor build up, and I've just never liked AJ Styles that much, as a character or as a worker.

I couldn’t really get into it and that has nothing to do with the in ring stuff or top notch crowd. I just couldn’t suspend disbelief that AJ had any chance of winning. That’s kinda of the problem in the era of long title reigns. A lot of the b ppv main events are just filler.
