and it's to do with these very forums.
I remember starting a thread once about how much I really liked this place, and I still do since I still know some great people here. But over the last few months, there has been something that has really bugged me for so long, and I personally feel it should stop because it's reminding me more and more of NoDQ and all those other forums that I left because of these people.
I'm talking about the 'My opinion is better than yours, so shut up' people.
I'm not going to name names, but people know about the amount of posters coming in, calling other members 'IWC frap boys' and things like that when they have an opinion that disagrees with something. People going to extremes to either win an argument or make a point.
It just seems to me when you go around here, you can't properly disagree about something or not like something without being hounded down. Take the Vince McMahon angle and the amount of times people have been called names because they've disagreed with the Angle because it's 'a TV show' or whatever it was. People have a right to disagree with what you think is a good angle. I'm indifferent about it, but I just don't want people feeling like they have the 'wrong' opinion because someone told them they have that.
This place is my home away from home. The place where I can chat to people from all over the world who like to make jokes and have opinions about the world of Pro Wrestling. I wouldn't have known about ROH, Chikara, CZW, NOAH, HUSTLE, UFC etc, if it wasn't for you guys and I'd want it to be somewhat civilised without people having arguments over stupid things and people calling others dumb because they don't agree with you.
The last thing I'd want is for RD Reynolds' great website to be represented by a forum that's basically NoDQ Version 2.

Ok well, if this turns into an All-Purpose Forum Vent Thread then let me know because there's a couple of things I'd like to get off my chest in what I assume will be an amnesty.

Word, eJm. Unfortunately, you gotta take the good with the bad. People are going to have an opinion on things that differs from you, no matter what you believe. And they've got as much right to voice it as you do, no matter how logical or jackass it seems. You just got to let it roll off ya. Remember, on the internet, we're all 10 feet tall and bulletproof.
I come here for the intentional and not-so-intentional comedy, and for the wrestling. If it weren't for this place, I wouldn't have fallen for CHIKARA, and I wouldn't have met the fine people that I count as my friends. So, it's always good to focus on the good, and treat the bad as the price you pay for that.
Glad you were able to get it off your chest, tho.

I wouldn't be here if I did. It's just the WAY people disagree with each other that annoys me. Why can't we all just be civilised and just say our views without dissing each other? I'll probably try to ignore it, but yeah, I had to get it off my chest.

Because idiots, bully boys & internet tough guys think that the only way to get their point across is to really try & belittle someone else. "I like TNA." "It sucks! You're wrong to like it!" "Indy wrestling is good." "It is not WWE! It sucks! You're wrong to like it!" "I like My Chemical Romance." "They suck! You're wrong to like them!" & so on... So, actual dialogue may vary, but this is alot of what we see here. I'm sick of this crap too, frankly. But it's never going to change as some idiots will not accept that others have different opinions.

I just hate it when people say that something sucks and they don't give an explanation for it.

The main thing I have a problem with is that people can take things waaaay too seriously. Case in point, I made a joke in a thread not that long ago and got four PMs from four different members and an e-mail about how wrong I was, how evil I was, how mad with power I was, and how much the forum has reminded them of Nazi Germany since I closed a thread.
That's right, I make a joke, I close a thread, suddenly I'm being compared to one of the worst genocides in the past century.

You should've seen the PMs I got when Vertigo raised my postcount to 10 billion. All of them saying "You're such a loser!", "Do you even have a life?" & everyone thinking they were oh so bloody clever for making fun of a guy with a high post count Ah, well... lol@ idiocy!

It seems that given the wide range of people and the amount of traffic that this particular forum gets, we're likely to see some of that go on. Unfortunately, as long as these folks stay within the rules, it seems that there's very little that can be done about it.
I agree, there's a fair amount of cajoling and general lack of nominal and reasonably well informed and developed discussion here in Off Topic and in WWE Current (where I poke in at least once a week). I maintain that some of the best discussions I've had here are about things in the less browsed sections of the board (Wrest is always good). One of my favorites was a four page thread about the NWA split from WCW in 1992 and it's effect on the respective company titles. Unfortunately, I don't make it into WrestleCrap too much, because it's overrun with Word Association and/or other gimmicky things, which aren't my style (but more power to the people who get a kick out of them).
I suppose the biggest reason for this is that, by and large, we're not compelled to hold ourselves to the same standard about intelligent discussion around here, and when it rubs the wrong way, that's all we see. No other place on the internet can I go and make breast and nipple jokes about Bruce Campbell and inside of 3 minutes be engaged a much less low-browed discussion about...oh, I dunno...the repercussions of alcohol consumption or something (just tossing it out at random). The drawback is that many of the posters, myself included, sometimes come here for the more juvenile stuff, and juvenile stuff doesn't exactly lend itself to all of us holding ourselves to a great and high intellectual standard.
Oh well. That's why I'm such a fickle guy around here, I suppose. I'll browse the forums, but go a week and a half without ever making a post, and then I'll be posting pretty regularly for a while. Just don't let yourself get baited or too worked up, and this place stays pretty chill most of the time, methinks.

Oh, and get this: I run a forum on ProBoards to playtest a game I'm making. It's meant to be played with friends a'la AD&D, BattleTech, that sort of thing. Pencils, paper, dice, the works. I run it on a forum for playtesting so I can have more people try it. Just this morning I had to kick one person because he was an elitist prick about it. The character I have him playing is a type that deals a lot of damage in bursts, but has to rest after only a few attacks. However, he's extremely powerful after he's rested. Anyway, he's talking total s*** about the other players and making them feel stupid especially when they shoot an enemy and it doesn't die. Hey, not everyone can do that in one shot. If they could, the game would suck. It doesn't matter that they're giving him the information he needs so that he can take his attacks, no, he feels the need to start insulting them. I gave him a chance to knock it the heck off but he wouldn't so I canned his butt and gave his character to someone else. So he sends me an e-mail telling me it was his brother that was a jerk, blah blah blah. Bullcrap. Flat out bullcrap. So I ban his IP too. If he'd manned up and just said "I'm sorry I was a jerk" then maybe I would have let him back in, but nope, he has to try to pass the buck.
Then he complains to ProBoards because one of the monsters in the game has an Italian name, so I'm having to deal with them right now.
