Sometimes things just annoy me about my favourite past time.
Like a fill in issue in the middle of an ongoing story arc.
If you can't get a story in on time don't take the assignment! Or take on so many damn writing gigs!

Or take on so many damn writing gigs! Or those issues that are nothing but simply to refresh the origin tale or what the hero is. Whatever. Better yet, I'm sorta burned out totally on these epic "mighty consequential" storylines that run for 10-12 issues or whatever the hell. What happened ot the stand-alone adventure issue?

I've always hated in the early comics how characters will think the ENTIRE plot to themselves...
"OMG Doom is trying to destory the world with his magic laser. Thankfully myself and the Avengers are powerful enough to stop him!"
I SMURFING HATE THAT!

Chris Claremont is a genuine legend of comics who has written some classics but man today his stories are convoluted and verbose.

I hate "retconning". It seems like such a slap in the face to the writers that have gone before whomever does the retconning.
"Oh, I never liked that Spider Man had a baby girl, let's just say that that whole thing was a dream, it never ever happened."
What a crock of crap.

QUANTUM AND WOODY getting the axe. I really dug that book. It was like DEADPOOL.....only at times, much, much funnier.

The reason there are no stand-alone stories anymore is because the TPB (trade paperback) market has exploded for comics. At the same time, single issue comic sales are not that great. So everything is geared to being collected in trades later on.

DC isn't as gung-ho on it as Marvel has been.

The price. I know the price inflates, and comics sales aren't what they used to be, but they've gotten so expensive I hardly get them anymore.

I actually like comics collected in TPB form. It makes the stories flow more easily, and especially in the case of mega-events like DC's INFINITE CRISIS and 52, it's just more economical, and not to mention easier to keep track of the action.

Yeah, but what if I come into such an epic storyline, issue #4 of say 10 issues. The story is already in depth with its complex story, and I think: "why is this even out on newsstands? Why not just release this sucker on book without the serialized nonsense?"

I know what you're implying, but just for the record, they've never retconned Spider-Man having a baby. It was written out of the story and forgotten, but it's still something that happened. At least for now.

To add on to the pages in a comic book without having to write more of the main story, they devote the last 10 pages to a mini comic about the heroes life as a child (this is also done to avoid having to write a REAL back story). Young Miguel O'Hara, again I'm looking at you.
