No, not a "helmet." A case shaped like the main character's helmet...or so I read in the paper today. So... a helmet eh? Take off, eh!

I used to be big into First Person Shooters once.
Then, I realized how much I sucked at them once I played online, and never really played again. (Save for that one week before the "Doom" movie came out)
Anyway, point being, I've never played any Halo game, but I'd assume they're pretty good

Which was my point exactly...extremely expensive, to the tune of 117% or so. But hell, I'm all for collectors items and what not, and hey, it's their money, so whatever. Video games just don't generally fall into my category of collecting. EDIT: I'm also becoming increasingly upset that my Strange Brew reference was no sold.

I was talking with a friend who's roommate picked it up at Midnight, and had it beaten on the hardest difficulty by 6:30-7:00 a.m.
....and people complained God of War II was short....

It was hyped to the moon almost everywhere (except Papa Sweed didn't hear it, but we all know he lives under a rock anyway ;D) so if you didn't expect these sort of sales, you don't know how powerful advertising is. And Halo 3 is only made for one reason and one reason only. 8 Way System Link

I admit it, I succumbed to the lure of the dark side and waited in line at midnight to get Halo 3.
Oh well, at least there were only five or so people in the line (at least most people in my hometown have some common sense even if I don't) and since I never go to bed before 3 AM anyway, I thought I might as well go get the game as soon as possible.
And yeah, it isn't the longest game out there but I've played at least eight hours and have only completed four of the levels so far. It's probably because I suck at FPS games (I hate most FPS, as I have stated repeatedly) and because I chose to play on Heroic.

Honestly, let us have our Halo series.
Halo is America's Dragon Quest series, meaning we line up in long lines for the midnight release and almost everyone buys it.
What I'm referring to is in Japan, Dragon Quest is their most popular series. It is so popular that the government had to tell Square-Enix they couldn't launch DQ8 on a week day, as with the previous games so many people would take off from school and work to line up for the game and buy it and play it.
Halo is like that here...it sort of is our symbol of gaming, so even if it isn't the best series ever, let it be and let us enjoy it.

I went to Best Buy yesterday looking to buy Medal of Honor: Airborne...and what happens? They have no MOH: Airborne and like 150 copies of Halo 3 sitting on a table, with noone even looking at them...overpriced, overhyped, overplayed peice of crap series...

I personally think Halo was a really good game, if not great. Wouldn`t wait in line for it that`s for sure.
However, if you`re really into the story and don`t want your mates ruining the ending for you, I can see why you`d want to get it as early as possible. Same with watching a film or reading a book early.

That has somehow had the biggest opening weekend for a videogame ever. Sure, you can have your opinion on a series, but the numbers do not lie. I believe this is the part where you take the crow, and eat it.

I believe this is the part where you take the crow, and eat it. If you consider Halo's genaric storyarc, average FPS difficulty, and so-so multiplayer against the MASSIVE amounts of time and money that the game gets hyped, of course it'll sell regardless of how good it actually is... It's like that with anything, you hype it up enough, people are going to buy it...that doesn't make it great, or even good...

I personally think Halo was a really good game, if not great. I used to think that as well (and honestly didn't give two craps about Halo 3), until I played Halo on the harder difficulties a month or so ago, namely Heroic (and Legendary on co-op)... out of sheer boredom, I might add. It suddenly became a completely different game in which you actually needed to employ a bit of strategy to keep yourself alive, instead of just casually blasting through waves of enemies as you did on Easy and Normal... at the same time the battles got much more epic, and I finally realized why the Halo series is so loved. But yeah, this doesn't help anything and I am probably wrong anyway, because Halo is an overrated piece of shit as some people are very willing to tell you.

Ahaha, yes Halo is just a crappy game with nothing but hype to keep it afloat, this is why 3 years after Halo 2 came out it's still the most played game on Xbox Live. The 7 million people that got Halo 2 are just too stupid to understand how terrible that game is, and the 1.5 million people that played Halo 3 online yesterday are a bunch of suckers. I guess.

I'm not saying Halo is a terrible game...I'm saying that it seems like people like to just accept that it's not that great compared to other FPS simply because it is Halo...
