I went over to my buddies house to watch Raw on Monday and he said there was a guy waiting for the game to go on sale at midnight since like four pm. He said there was no lines, just the one guy and they told him-- dude we have over a hundred sixty of these, you don't necessarily have to wait the full eight hours since there's no one else here, he apparently said ' nah, I've waited before, it's cool.'
I can't imagine doing that.

I actually know a fellow who went in to wal-mart at about 12 noon, bought the game without a pre-order and had joyus fun.

However, they don't come near the end all, be all, "I have to wait hours upon hours in line and take off work and school to play this" levels of goodness that they are hyped as.

But there's honestly not much I'll wait in line for. If it's like a concert or something that's one night only I can see that, but a game or like a movie I can see sometime later I've never understood getting 'opening day'.

I'll admit, I waited in line outside of a Target for the PS2 on launch day. Never have waited since then though. I've taken the thought process of "Whenever I get it, that's when it's meant to be." Rather I get lucky on opening day or have to wait 6 months.

What's the upgraded versions do? If it's like most Special Editions it's probably just interviews and behind the scenes footage and a fancy box. I got the Halo 2 limited edition.

Well, allow me to speak for the nerds who lined up for Star Wars: Episode 3 on opening nights. I felt a part of history that night. So much that I can tell my nephews and nieces, that yes, Dick Rimshaw stood in line, and was one of the first people to see Revenge of the Sith in Nebraska. It's a good feeling, much in the same way some remember being part of huge battles. Now granted, the movie kinda sucked...

What's the upgraded versions do? In the mid range version, you get a bonus disc with interactive stuff. In the ultra expensive one, you get the bonus disc and a bonus DVD. Which seems strange to me, but I'm not a gamer either. EDIT: Oh yeah...and a Master Chief helmet case for all 3 discs. Which, when you put all three bonuses together, I'm sure completely justifies a roughly 117 percent price increase.

Do you get a harness and a safety leash so you don't run into traffic too?

No, not a "helmet." A case shaped like the main character's helmet...or so I read in the paper today.

So you're paying more for a 'special limited edition' case?
That's even dumber than the helmet.
