Ok?
Jamie Foxx is still about a billion times better an actor than The Rock.

Rocky Melvin has more charisma and thus, easier to enjoy. Even when he thinks he's an action star, can't help but find him charming and adorable.
Jamie Foxx is nothing more than an ugly girl.

The Rock's been a bounty hunter, an ancient Egyptian warrior, a football player and a gay disco dancer.
What's Jamie Foxx ever done? Ray!? Pfft!

Friday Sales 1.THE GAME PLAN Buena Vista $6,250,000 2 THE KINGDOM Universal $6,005,000 So? GAME PLAN was on 500 more screens. The fact that KINGDOM is still razor-thin behind that Disney movie.....thats still should be noted. Amazing too how RESIDENT EVIL 3 nose-dived from #3 on friday to #5 on saturday.

Amazing too how RESIDENT EVIL 3 nose-dived from #3 on friday to #5 on saturday. explain to me what the deal with across the universe is? why the hell is it only coming out on like 100 more screens a week Consider this. The studio nearly decided to pull an IDIOCRACY. That is, dump it in 10 theatres and dump it on DVD. Basically Assisted Suicide. Instead, it was released in a few theatres, and despite the polarizing reviews (people either love it or pop some cyanide), its doing much better than expected, and on theatre-average, its doing good. Basically with these limited releases, such movies have to do a % amount of business in order for the studio to justify spending money on a nation-wide release. While Haggis' IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH hasn't and won't go nation-wide, EASTERN PROMISES did and thats why its nation-wide. With ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, its sorta both ways. Its not a hot ticket, but its making cash. If it continues its ways, then it'll be released nation-wide on a quicker pace. Interesting to note too, ELAH is $35 million in the hole. ACROSS THE UNIVERSE? $37 million. The latter has a shot of breaking even. F*** Paul Haggis.

oh true, i saw its only in 336 theatres and i wondered why, the movie wasn't bad to be honest
but the real question is, why was the studio trying to kill it?

When I first read about the concept behind Across the Universe my first thought, didn't they try that with Sgt. Peppers already?

oh true, i saw its only in 336 theatres and i wondered why, the movie wasn't bad to be honest but the real question is, why was the studio trying to kill it? Oh boy, lets just say, without me pulling a RRA-trademark rant, the movie had a hellish post-production. The studio hated the cut that Traynor delivered, and considering the $60+ million they sank into the movie (from the CGI to the Beatles catalogue), they seriously considered whatever its just for the best just to write the whole thing off as a tax break, and bury it this side of a dumpster baby. Better than trying to release it and lose money from having to make the film prints and paying distributors to show it. Like IDIOCRACY, or Alex Cox's WALKER and so forth. Instead, Traynor/Studio agreed on a "compromise" edit and a limited release that if it died, wouldn't kill the studio as bad as an outright nation-wide release. But, with that OPRAH episode and hoping to cut in with Beatles fandom, it could do something.

What turned me against Jamie Foxx was his prima donna nonsense on MIAMI VICE. He screwed that movie.
Still, Colin Farrell beat him up in a fight. The Irish are good for something after all!

To me Jamie Foxx is a much better actor, but I usually enjoy watching the Rock a lot more. He's just a lot more fun for me.

The thing is, I have seen so many advertisements for Across The Universe but there was never any advertisements for Idiocracy. Why would they advertise it so much if they don't decide to put it in many theaters.
