You know what amazes me about "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin"? The same guy who directed those movies also directed "The Lost Boys" and "Falling Down." Lost Boys..I can see that. Falling Down, though.....really? It's true. Joel Schumacher directed "Falling Down." I was shocked as well.

Bah, thanks for the clarification. That's what I get for listening to the internet. Anyways, I hate that Returns signaled the beginning of the horrible Schumacher films. I always thought it was better than the first. Me too. Hell, Keaton was offered a $30 million/2 film contract to stay on the franchise after Burton was booted from the franchise, but Keaton turned it down after he saw Schumacher's pitch with #3 and 4. That should have set off a number of alarms in Schumacher's head. If Beetlejuice says no way, something is horribly wrong with your film.

Well, WB suits also associated RETURNS' chaos, somehow, with Keaton, so WB had this silly idea of stacking up BATMAN FOREVER with as many stars as possible to get a major friggin hit...and it worked. To them, Keaton turning down the contract must have been a win-win situation for them. Mediocre-ass of a movie, but it made money.

The animated series is definately one of my favorites, but I had to go with Keaton. He was the first and was pretty damn good.

I'm a huge mark for the Adam West series, but Michael Keaton really brought the true vision of Batman to life.

I'm not even sure this is a debate.... Christian Bale played him like he should be played. Batman is supposed to be TERRIFYING, not witty and lame.

There really aren't many scenes in his films where Batman is "witty and lame". don't forget about Clooney. The ice skates, the Batman Mastercard, the campy crap... that was an attempt at witty and most certainly lame. Keaton and Kilmer both played him pretty good, but Bale is more convincing and looks the part orders of magnitude better than any other person who has portrayed him.

Not Keaton's fault, with that damn foam rubber suit, but lets just say when Bale engages those Ninjas in the finale, I bought it.

If I have to choose one in particular, It would have to be Christian Bale.

I just wish Val Kilmer played Batman in a Nolan film.
That'd be incredible.

Its really hard to choose here.
Keaton was how I was introduced into the world of Batman, since he did such an accurate description.
Mr. Connroy took it a step further, and showed Batman for what he truly was--a badass Sherlock Holmes. Also, for many years, he's the voice that a lot of kids in that particular generation (myself included) grew up with and have come to know.
Christian Bale I think took the cake. He took what none of the actors (save for Connroy) were able to do, and that's make Batman a believeable badass. He just lived that part, and I think it reflected very well.
I think someone had this same order before me. 1st Christian Bale 2nd Kevin Connroy 3rd Michael Keaton

I had to vote Christian Bale. What puts him over Conroy for me is the fact that Bale can fuly encompase the character of Batman/Bruce Wayne. He looks the part, he acts the part, he sounds the part, etc.
Conroy was great, but all he has is the voice.

Michael Keaton by the largest margin possible. Christian Bale is ok, if you're a woman.

Keaton. The darkest version (which is what Batman is SUPPOSED to be) with the darkest director and soundtrack.
