Oh, I was just wondering. I didn't think Patriots fans existed before the 2000s.

Oh, I was just wondering. I didn't think Patriots fans existed before the 2000s. It was me and my grandfather and thats about it. I know there were a lot of Giants fans for somereason that jumped ship since then. I hate them becuase they didn't tough out those rough years with me and Grandpa.

Thats how I feel about the a lot of the Cowboys fans coming around now. They haven't had any real amount of success in nearly 10 years but now that they have a half way decent football team, I see a LOT of "diehards." Nothing worse than talking to someone about their love of your favorite team, but if you ask them who the QB was prior to the current, they look at you like a lost child. The answer is the same for both of our teams, actually. Poor Drew.

Speaking of that guy, I miss Parcells post game interviews. No matter what team he was coaching at the time.

The Giants fans exist a lot in that area because they played two seasons in the Yale Bowl and always had a strong New England presence historically. With the older generations that grew up Giants fans passing away and the Patriots rising, it makes sense the transition happened, though a lot of it is due to the bandwagon effect.

You learn something every day. Thank you. No problem. The reality is, though, that most people were only allowed to following their local team if it was a big market (like NY) or subjected to watching whatever team was winning that specific era, back when the NFL was prospering and growing (late-60's to 70's). That also plays into why there are Giants fans in the Northeast, as NE likely watched a NY affiliate broadcast of their game, and why there's so many Cowboy and Steeler fans (as well as Notre Dame and even Yankee fans). Those specific teams (Dallas and Pittsburgh) were winning and people were forced to watch them nationally. It was either cheer for a new team every week or jump on the bandwagon without much choice.

Its the same way here with the Dallas Mavericks. Ive loved the Mavs since I was like 5 years old. I would go to games with my dad and watch every game on tv when they were God awful. Then the second they become good, everybody and their dog is a "Mavs Fan For Life". Yeah, my ass. Also, for the question about Kurt Warner. He injured his shoulder or arm when he was trying to dive on a loose ball and Julius Peppers landed on him. Tim Rattay played the rest of the way.

Oh, I was just wondering. I didn't think Patriots fans existed before the 2000s. You do recall that Drew Bledsoe led them to the Super Bowl in '97, right? That means that they were good BEFORE Tom Brady.

Junior High through highschool. These are the teams everyone liked.
Cowboys 49rs Packers Dolphins
Then when the Broncos won the superbowl everyone liked them. Even though they treated Denver like absolute shit before because they lumped them and the Bills in the same category of teams that lost multiple Super Bowls. I don't think Minnesota was ever thrown in there.
You talk about jumping on the bandwagon. I had been watching football each week since the 1994 season, and I can count on one hand how many times we had a Rams game. Nobody liked the Rams. They ranked up there with Cardinals and Patriots for obscure teams. Once they won it in 2000 people started going on about a dynasty and Kurt Warner was the best thing since Joe Montana, once he got injured he was considered a flash in the pan.
People jumped on the Patriots wagon because they won the superbow 4 months after 911. Even though it felt like a propaganda bowl, the fans ate it up.

I remember all the kids wearing the starter jackets for those first three teams you mentioned. I just kept quiet. The Pats were just kinda mine and Granpas team. I kinda wish he had been alive long enough for any of the Superbowls after the 85 one. I think he would really enjoy rubbing in my Dads face that the Pats are doing so well and the Giants are sucking so hard right now.

Well, the Giants D looks like it's in 'FAIL' mode again as Jerrious Norwood (who?) scores from 60+ yards out.
10-7, Falcons.

I'm hoping for a Falcons win, although very unlikely. I'd like Dallas to keep a decent gap between them and the rest of the NFC East.

You know what? Looks like the Falcon D is in 'FAIL' mode too.
14-10, Giants. Offense looks pretty damn sharp tonight.

Starter Jackets. I myself had a Giants jacket, still do actually. I think they ran about $80 to $120 which was pretty damn steep for parents to blow on their 12 to 14 year olds. Back in 2004 I was in a Walmart and noticed that they were selling the jackets for around $40 to $50 These are freakin Starter jackets the #1 way to show your team devotion by blowing over $100 on a team jacket. Ten years later they are being sold for half the original price in a place that's considered white trashy Another team everyone was riding were the Chicago Bulls. I haven't heard anything much of them since their last championship. I never got into b ball but back then the Bulls were in the news so much it was hard to miss them. Now nothing.

Giants back up 14-10. One of two things will happen. They will keep scoring back and forth until the end and whoever makes the last score will win. Or one team or both will start fading and mail it in at the end and whoever makes the fewest mistakes will win.
