If any of you don't remember me posting it months back, the geist was that Davies was trying to cook up an epic 2 or 3-episode "main event" of the 4th series that would be the expected ratings barn-stormer, and basically involve Tennant fight a villain he's been chasing for eons, except the good Doctor only remembers a snippet, and he needs the required "locked" data to defeat this baddie's big scheme. How to get this data? Why the only people with the other pieces of the puzzle.....some of his past versions! Basically, the whole thing would have been scripted around whoever Davies could get booked of the former Doctors, and I'm sure it would have been fun.

dont give up hope my friend. its entirely possible his meeting the 5th doctor is only a preamble to that larger event. testing the waters, so to speak, to see how a modern audience would respond to a multi doctor ep

Then again, like Doctor Doom, I always thought McCoy was incredibly underrated and it would have been fun to see him be the Doctor again.

More non-canon than the movie and new series combined! But nevertheless, incredibly hilarious short.

Then again, you might be onto something you know. Wouldn't be shocked if BATTLESTAR GALACTICA re-runs were aired on NBC if the strike gets really naughty.

It stinks up the joint. As for the new WHO, I think it works well compared to the original, since I've seen alot of the originals back in the PBS days. The thing is, the original WHO you could tell complex stories with its multi-part serials, unlike the restrictive episodic one hour format of the new WHO (save for the occasional two-parter). But the new WHO is melancholic, and celebratory, of its own mythology. Certainly that great episode from series 2 when you have practically David Tennant meeting a French royal mistress at several different times of her life.....and like "Jurassic Bark" for FUTURAMA, if your heart strings aren't pulled by the ending, You are a souless bastard. Or a corporate lawyer. While alot of old school WHO fans differed, I quite liked the basic execution of the Dalek/Cybermen war. Just the logic of why the Daleks would mow them down like grass makes perfect sense. Of course, I think alot of WHO's charm is from Tennant. Even with the weak jobber episodes, he still makes you watch him. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if two things happened: (1) Tennant ends up as a star of some form in Hollywood, after he's done with WHO, and (2) He might become *the* definitive Doctor for many many many folks.

I'm not an Old School Who Fan, but I was quite annoyed by that episode. When it was shown here, the build up was everywhere. Magazines had alternative covers of Darleks vs. Cybermen and it was all leading up to it being a rather awesome sequence. Then, when I watched the episode it was a huge letdown considering it was supposed to be this epic battle but it just turned into...well, HHH vs. Hurricane.
