"I'm looking for generals! Whadda I got? Foot soldiers! I want Dick Tracy DEEEEADDD!"
When I was a little kid, I loved that line because I instantly thought of TMNT. After all the movie came out when the Turtles were hot.
Playmates Toys released action figures based on the film, and I managed to get all of them except for The Blank. My parents actually suggested I write to the company to find out why it wasn't available. Here's the best part: they actually wrote back! Apparently the original plan was to hold off on the figure's release so as not to spoil the film's ending. Then they just decided to cancel it altogether.
This movie is a nice nostalgia-inducer for me. I have it saved on my DVR.

Even though Pacino's version of Big Boy Caprice was nothing like the original, it didn't matter. Because Pacino took that character and made it his own. Which is to say, awesome.

One of my favorites for a cheap yummy meal... Boil up your two bags of noodles. Once that's done strain out all of the water. Get a large pan, 6 eggs, and a few slices of American cheese (I'd recommend REAL cheese but we're working cheap here seeing as it's ramen...) and half a bottle of your favorite hot sauce. In the large pan crack the eggs as if you're going to scramble them, but instead of doing anything with them yet pour your noodles on top followed by the cheese slices. Stir up the noodles to be coated with the eggs and so the the cheese melts and gets mixed in with the rest of the cheap garbage food. Once the cheese is fully melted and the eggs are fully cooked onto the noodles... pour in your hot sauce... stir it up, and enjoy your meal for under a dollar.

Once again a thread based on What's in $lim's dvd player at the moment? ( Sure to become a Guy Smiley hosted gameshow in the near future) Currently its: I really dig this fun lil movie. Thoughts? Disagreements? Ramen noodle recipes? Visually, its a great comic book movie in terms of the art direction of the sets, DP Storaro's comic strip panel looks is brilliant, and its nice that the movie tries to make the strip alive and breathing. Its an eye candy orgasm. But in terms of storytelling, its a flat narrative. Beatty as a tough-grit cop works, but what hurts the movie are two things: (1) His relationship with the kid. Beatty is inconsistent as Tracy. Is he a tough-as-nails copper who becomes a strong role model for this juvenile delinquent because this bad mother f***** won't stay down, or is he a softie acting tough? (2) Madonna. She was banging director/star Beatty at the time. Nice voice? Sure. But she couldn't act to save Guy Ritchie's directing career. She killed that on her own. Yikes! Still, its fun to see the cameos/supporting cast ham it up as numerous baddies from the TRACY comics, characters that when Tracy whacked them... THEY STAYED DEAD! I know, that's shocking like Girl Scounts revealed to be Drug-smugglers for the comic book industry. Of course, there is that much-talked about 135 minute Director's Cut that got chopped off by a good half-hour. Would those lost minutes actually improve the movie? Who knows. Then again, this was Beatty's biggest hit movie, inspite of the fact that that guy wastes money like cand on every one of his directed-pictures. DICK TRACY (1990) - **1/2

I dig this film.
When people say 'Whose In It?' you can respond 'Whose Not In It!'
Had a pretty big cast:
Warren Beatty Al Pacino Dustin Hoffman William Forsythe Mandy Patinkin Paul Sorvino Kathy Bates Dick Van Dyke Catherine O'Hara (Don't remember her in it but she is according to imdb) James Caan

Grade A Ramen recipe posts are few and far between.
