Any movie in 2007 that you had serious expectations for, but was damn disapointed, or thought the material could have been something friggin great instead of...well, not good?

Knocked Up. Saw it opening night. Was VERY disappointed. These are the guys that brought me to countless tears of joy with 40 Year Old Virgin... and after hearing all of the critical praise of the movie, I thought for sure I was in for a laugh a minute rollercoaster. Alas, that did not happen. I saw Shrek the Third, Spider-Man, and a lot of other nonsense; but at least going into them, my expectations were low. Knocked Up, I had great expectations, and it didn't deliver. To me.

I think I'm the only person in the world who loved Spider Man 3. I'm going with Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. It was ok, But could've been alot better.

See, I take into moderation what the so-called "praise" is.
Take AMERICAN GANGSTER. Hyped up the ass for months, the talent involved should deliver at least a decent flick....should....and yet, Sir Ridley Scott has directed a few floaters before.
G.I. JANE anyone?
I just take the movies for whatever they bring to me, because I usually...hell, most of the time...I don't trust reviews/hype until my eyeballs are raped by the movie.
That said, my vote for Most Disapointing for 2007 (so far) is BREACH.
I mean, your movie fails the subject material when the friggin NBC Dateline special on the movie's DVD is more informative, more exciting, and more dramatic than the damn movie itself.

Spider-Man 3. The only positive was James Franco (as always), outside of him can't say anything more decent about what came out of this complete mess. Even Bruce Campbell's cameo wasn't as effective as it was previously in the first two films.

I usually don't buy into the hype machines.
But for some reason, I allowed my head to take in all the praise for Knocked Up. It was an endless circle jerk if I ever saw one.
I DID like Spider-Man 3... because I took it for what it was. Hell, most of the stuff that I do enjoy is stuff that is not critically praised.
I liked American Gangster, but was let down but Crowe's and Washington's performances, but that is because I think that both actors are very gifted, and what I saw on the screen wasn't something that I shall forever remember.
Compare that to Russell Crowe in LA Confidential, and hopefully you can understand where I'm coming from.

Well, I didn't have high hopes for Spider Man 3 in the first place, so I'd have to say that Shoot Em Up was somewhat of a disappointment.

So Crowe in MASTER & COMMANDER is worthless because he wasn't at his peak as he was in LA CONFIDENTIAL? Did Depp fail in EDWARD SCISSORHANDS because its not up to say ED WOOD or FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS?

Spider-Man 3.
There's a scene where an amnesia stricken Harry and Mary Jane dance to a song while cooking dinner. I dare you to find a more out of place, awkward scene in a movie ever. What the hell?

It's kind of like Ric Flair; his bad matches are still better than most wrestlers good matches. Crowe's performance, as well as Depp's were good in the grand scheme of things; but compared to other works by them, they were not up to par.

WHY?Well, besides crazy action scenes and Clive Owen kicking ass, what more was there to that movie? I was expecting some Tarantino-styled dialogue and a halfway-decent plot. It was cookie-cooker and even annoying at times.

SPIDER-MAN 3 is a rare time when we see a TREATMENT, not a friggin SCRIPT, shot and produced as it is. And that's not a good thing at all!

An ode to Catch Me If You Can? Man, I need to watch that movie again. That movie makes me get sentimental. Good film.
