Also, this might sound wierd because they're popular, but The Who. People think 60s rock and it's hippies, Greatfull Dead (BLECCHH!), Hendrix (awesome), Beatles, Stones.... but really, aside from Hendrix, I'd take The Who over any of those bands. Hell, even the Doors get more attention just because of their drunk lead singer. You making fun of the Doors, Punk? I love The Who to death and think they are as good as the Stones and the Beatles. But no one makes fun of The Mother F'n DOORS. JK I don't really like The Grateful Dead *runs away*

Oh (I could go on all day here!)...
Dag Nasty.
One of the original bands that was considered "emo"... but don't confuse them with today's trendy, crying, emo-kids.
No, this was when emo meant emotional punk rock!! Not eye shadow and crappy tunes. These guys rocked the house.

I hate hate HATE the Dead!!! I feel the same way about them (and the jam band thing in general) as I did about the whole "rave scene" and techno... That is, the music sucks, any sane person can tell that. People just are into it FOR THE DRUGS!!!

I like Morrison, but am not obbessed with him, I mostly like the whole group. I think Robby Krieger is one of the most underrated Guitarist of all time. Hell I even loved the group after Morrison's death. but I agree with you about Dead, "Truckin" is one of the only tunes I like of them.

Keane Seriously, their what Radiohead should have turned into after The Bends. Eh? So you would have preferred Radiohead to release standard, unoriginal indie pop music your parents like to play at dinner parties to prove they're still with it instead of OK Computer? yes definitely, cant stand OK Computer, kid A was pants and I dont even know the names of the tripe they have released since.

Skindred, their so different (and better) than anything else out at the minute, but their genius always gets no sold. I dunno, I just couldn't get into Skindred. And they don't really sound a whole lot different than anything else, at least not to me.

You know....when 800 people say FNM are under rated..I'm not really sure they are.
As far as mainstream acceptence..sure...but so are most non pop artists who are of any merit.
I have loved the band since I bought The Real Thing 15 years ago....but I think among people wirth wider musical interest they are appciated just fine.
One band no one talks about anymore and really should is Fishbone..especially the 88- 94 era...
