Oddly enough when I was talking to all my non-wrestling-fan friends and family regarding Wrestlemania, many of them didn't know who Cena was... but once the hair vs hair match came up, people seemed to think that Lashley was the WWE champ. That's how Lashley was presented in the ads apparently... and I can't say that I don't see it! After all Lashley spends more time on Raw than he does on ECW.

Recently, there was a discussion about whether or not modern fans appreciated 80s wrestling. I think the Cena v Hart comparison relates to that discussion. Bret Hart is the kind of wrestler that you had to grow up with to love. Any objective look at the Hitman would have to concede that his charisma and mic skills were below average for a Champion. His in ring ability was second to none, but in ring ability alone doesn't a champion make. You've got to have that charisma. I think a lot of Hart love comes from nostalgia. Actually I thought Bret had great charisma. If I didn't like him for anything it was being formulaic in the ring in my opinion

Myself and 5 other guys used to go to wrestling shows over here, mostly house shows to begin with then moving up to a raw taping. I stopped going a couple of years back after a particularly crap raw taping where Cena was booed out of the building. On tv of course that was edited out. I asked them all if they still go to shows, none of them do. Of the 6 of us, only two still watch wrestling now, both of us only watch TNA. None watch WWE and all of them said it was partially to do with having to watch Cena win every week. And by the way, nearly everyone at work that knows anything about wrestling has heard of Hart, none know who Cena is, and when I could be bothered to tell them they all said he sounded lame.

He makes more money for the WWE than Hart did...his lasting power is far greater...his potential is greater...his attitude is better than Hart's was and I think he is a harder worker. Hogan vs. Hart could have been the biggest match of the 90's but both guys wanted to be pricks about it and who lost? Us. The fans. Cena would never pull something like that. He is great for wrestling...he is great role model for kids and he makes a boat load of money for his company. I can 100% understand people liking Hart more than Cena but to say he does not deserve to break Bret's acomplishements...I do not agree with that. He has earned his stripes and deserves a spot above Bret Hart in the record books. Just my opinion. I think Bret would be the first one to tell you HE'd love a Hogan/Hart match. But in Hogan's eyes, Bret was 'too small'. And i don't think it's fair to call Cena a harder worker. Think of the slump the WWF was in when Bret was there. He could've said, 'nope, sorry, i'm outta here' but he didn't.

Well, i'm a wrestling fan , and personally i couldn't give a rats ass about the mainstream fame of this wrestler or that wrestler. I've never seen The Marine (nor do i have any intentions to) and i thought the hair vs. hair fiasco building up to WrestleMania was the biggest waste of wrestling TV time ever-quite simply, i hated it. This is just my opinion, but i believe that a wrestling world heavyweight title should go to the best wrestler in any given company.
