Where does it say WWE knew nothing about it or they didn't clear it with them?
If it was for injury, then why admit to a mistake they didn't make. Should I issue an apology to my school for taking steroids that were prescribed when I played football for them?
If any media source is surprised by this or anyone decides to not watch wrestling due to this than they are the biggest idiots in this world (this goes for anyone and any sport also) and weren't helping the business in any way whatsoever. Hell, the WWE went threw this worse several years ago and I would think that the people honestly outraged by this would know better.
The WWE issued a statement and Helms and Edge never stated that they had it cleared, which would mean they WOULDN'T have to explain themselves.
You and I don't know if the WWE knew, we are only assuming. The WWE could know yet be going with no comment until the know what the government's case is and even then, would you be satisfied if the WWE came forward and said that they knew and it was for medical reasons? Most people want the story from the man them self and a statement from the WWE wouldn't mean a thing.
And yes, you should. Fact of the matter is, your employer SHOULD know what is going in your body, because it's THEIR DUTY
So I need to go to my school and apologize for being asthmatic and being prescribed steroids by a doctor? That's makes no damn sense. They know I have asthma and if they had any intelligence they would know that steroids are a common treatment for that. If a doctor tells me I need a medicine to live (as in my case) or heal (again something I have been threw) and gives me said medicine, I don't care what the school or any future employer has to say my health is more important than that.
look at all the premature deaths that have happened. Maybe just maybe we could've saved one of two if WWE had put some sort of issue in place where each wrestler's medical records were recorded and analyzed.
The WWE has a doctor on duty that explains this stuff to the wrestlers, Vince and the rest. They know before hand what the guy are taking unless its illegal and no one has proof of this being illegal as much as some appear to believe or wish. Its is only when doing things illegally that there is a problem and if its done illegally then I doubt anyone knows.
There is no way outside of strict testing or people being 100% honest that the WWE would be able to know what they are taking as consumer groups and right to privacy groups will never allow anyone outside of a doctor and patient to know what the medical records say.
Saying that they should only explain themselves once they're caught only makes them look more like fools.
I never said they only had to explain themselves when caught. At least they are coming forward and trying to explain this. People seem to have a closed minded attitude to steroids being helpful and when Edge and Helms come forward with a logical and lawful reason as to why they are taking them people are turning a blind eye and tring to paint them (and by extension) everyone that has used them as criminals.
And remember, this is being covered by people who have NO KNOWLEDGE of the sport. And just because they don't doesn't mean that we or the WWE are in the right. The fact of the matter remains is that tis is probably the biggest coverage wrestling has gotten for a while, and when it dies down...so will the interest in the sport itself. And like you said, the WWE went through this before and look what happened...it went through a VERY bad recovery time. By saying nothing will happen because of this or that people are stupid if they let it effect them is simply ignorant.
I never said we or the WWE are in the right, I said that those who are surprised by this or letting something like this taint their view of wrestling are idiots and I stand by that. The WWE has been threw this before and it is common knowledge. Maybe I give people too much credit for using common sense but, anyone with it wouldn't be surprised by this. Is this the most coverage wrestling has gotten in awhile? Yes but, the WWE never gets positive coverage in the national media outside of a fluff piece about the Christmas for The Troops. Why should anyone expect anything different? Wrestling is a joke to the media and 60% of the nation and to that 60% that sees wrestling as a joke, their view wont harm ticket sales, merchandise sales or PPV buys because they didn't care to begin with.
Will something happen to McMahon or the wrestlers because of this legally? Maybe but until there is proof of them doing something illegal, I believe the injury excuse.
