There's a very good article on 411mania.com that looks at the career of Wendi Richter and I thought I make this poll. www.411mania.com/wrestling/columns/56036/Evolution-Schematic-06.20.07:-Wendi-Richter.htmI say yes. She is one of the most influential female wrestlers in history. She was very popular and athletic. I also found his Bret Hart comments to be true. Now will she ever be inducted? Probably not. His comments about her being forgotten are kinda true. Unlike male wrestlers, with female wrestlers (and even managers) it seems like its out of sight, out of mind. Even Sensational Sherri (RIP) is mostly remembered for her managerial career, not her wrestling career. The only exception seems to be Moolah, I find. What's your opinion.

She kinda seemed like a pre-madonna to me she wanted to retire with the belt and acted like a jerk.
Thats just what i got out of Moolahs book.

Definitely. I doubt younger fans today have any idea just how massively over she was in the mid-eighties. Seriously, for a while there during the "Rock 'n' Wrestling" era, she was getting pops that rivaled Hogan, JYD and Snuka -- something unheard of for a North American female wrestler at the time, or any time for that matter. Too bad that WWE's done everything they can to erase her from the history books.

She was big when WWF was starting to blow up. I'll never forget her association with Cyndi Lauper. However, her time at the top was not very long.

I say why not. She had a big hand in what was arguably the biggest time period in wrestling history, and like someone said was almost as over as the Hulkster, and I will admit, I had a crush on her when I was like 8 years old.

Wendi Richter was very average in terms of almost everything... average wrestling skills, average mic work, average charisma. I really think the reason she was popular was because she was in the right place at the right time. She just happened to be there when the Cyndi Lauper rock and wrestling stuff was massively over.
As for should she be in the Hall of Fame, I hate answering that question because WWE inducts ANYONE into it. In terms of accomplishment, ladies like Moolah and Sherri did way more.

The REAL question should be...will WWE and Richter ever get together in good graces with each other to make such a thing happen?
In quality? Yes she deserves it.
I mean, what other female wrestlers you know of actually headlined a few house shows for the WWF in the 1980s? Think about it.

Celebrity wing or no, if they can induct people like Pete Rose, they can make room for Wendy Richter.
She was a major player in what was probably the biggest angle of the 80's, and probably one of the biggest angles of all time. It was one of the angles that helped put the WWF on the map. Arguably, the WWF may not have become as popular as it did if it weren't for that angle.
She has done more for the business than 99% of the divas in the past decade. Combined.
Her popularity briefly rivaled Hogan's.
That all said, she'll probably never be inducted due to the animosity between herself and Vince.
Oh, and by the way, I think Cyndi Lauper deserves an induction as well. She's done far, far more for the business than either Pete Rose or William Perry.

I say no. It could have been any other reasonably attractive women's wrestler being paired with Cyndi Lauper in a "girls just wanna have fun" gimmick against old lady Moolah and it would have been a hit in 1985. Debbie Combs could have done the same thing. Or Leilani Kai. Or Velvet McIntyre.
Lauper is the reason Richter made it as a headliner, because she brought the MTV rub.

no, because she refused to be humbled by the Sheik! She must be lesbian!
Poor Sheik, I'm sure he could have satisfied her, after all, she married Hugo and his 28 segundos.

Didn't she lose at WM1 or 2 by botching a f***ing splash? She splashed Moolah, but Moolah turned it into a school girl/small package and won.
That's all I can remember her by. So no, she doesn't deserve shit.

They should have Iron Sheik induct Leilani Kai. If you watch this 2004 shoot interview he does with Eric Simms, it's so funny what he calls her.
