I said I wasn't posting here in this thread anymore but..... I don't think that Vince should have to apologize. It's mentioned that there were a lot of complaints about the tribute, but the WWE handled it correctly. All they knew was that Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit, and Daniel Benoit were dead. All they knew was that a member of the WWE family was dead. So they had to pay tribute. But once it was confirmed as a double murder-suicide, they stopped. They pulled his merchandise, took down the wrestler's testimonials, and took his superstar profile down. They've handled this, how they should handle it. And IMO I don't think Vince has to apologize for anything.

Long time reader, first time poster. I felt like this was the only legitimate place I could post in which my opinions might even the smallest effect on anyone.
I watched a whole lot of wrestling as a kid. I'm nearly 20 years of age now, but when I was a kid (ages about 8 to 14), I was hugely in to wrestling. I watched week in week out, and one of my favorite stars of the trade was Chris Benoit.
He just harbored so much energy. His face lit up when he walked out of those curtains, and if you were a fan of his, you knew you were in for a very entertaining match. He left it all in the ring, and I loved him for that. He was devoted to his sport, and it was something that you could see made him genuinely happy.
It just happens to be quite a shame that it seems that he couldn't balance his life in the ring with his life outside of it. And what he did was in cold blood. He murdered his family in cold blood. And it was cowardly, I agree to the utmost. But a small part of me believes that we as wrestling fans can't let this tarnish his legacy in that ring. He was a lovable character, and an even better wrestler. He was seemingly humble. He accepted that it was his new job to put over younger talent, and to help develop a new generation of superstars. He was willing and able.
And then this happens. And it hits you like a ton of bricks. As a fan I could never believe something like this would ever happen. I went from watching him put on a fantastic show with Dean Malenko at my first ever Live wrestling event at the age of 11, to 8 years later watching him leave us all with a horrid taste in our mouths. The reputation he built in that ring is destroyed. But above that reputation is what he accomplished in that ring. Don't take that away from him. He will always be associated with cold blood and murder and suicide. Forever. Nothing will ever change that.
But I can't help but remember seeing him at his best every time he put on a 4 or 5 star match in that ring. It's a shame that the entire country got to see him at his worst. His absolute worst. And now his murderous rampage is being looked at as roid rage and another case of anabolic abuse and it's just wrong. The media is turning everyone certain ways they shouldn't be going.
And I'm not pro Benoit in this case. It makes me sick what he did. But he is a legend, and he was one of the best in the business and I think that his legacy should garnish an a small amount of respect.
Rest in peace Nancy, and Daniel. May god have mercy on your tortured soul Chris.
Thank you for the memories. I will always respect your talent, and your integrity in that squared circle. I looked up to you. I really did. You demanded respect.
Isn't it ironic that you won't get any now, after what you did.
Sorry if this offends. I just needed to vent. This one hit me. It hit me pretty damn hard.

This is all just horrible.........But question I have is what was the kid doin when or after his mother (nancy) died? Did benoit tie him up and torture him? Did daniel witness her death? what did Chris tell him what happened to his mom? Just like OJ, u think you know someone BUT we have no idea what these people are like when their not in front of a camera. You're 7 years old. You just saw something you've never seen before (if you've even seen it). You're confused, scared. Your dad tells you to come with him or go to your room. You are going to listen to your dad.

From what I heard, they think she was killed friday night, and the boy Saturday morning. He could easily have been asleep during her death.

I want them to use ECW to show old Dungeon of Doom stuff to honor Nancy, no benoit just old nancy stuff That'd be difficult as Woman's career and Benoit's career were intertwined at the time feuding against the Dungeon of Doom. I remember they had the rematch from the GAB 96 w/ Sullivan vs. Benoit in Baltimore, in November that year and when they went to the bathroom, the whole DoD was waiting for Benoit and beat the crap out of him. I can't even imagine how Sullivan is taking this right now.

I think it's good WWE is gonna apologize for giving the tribute last night. I was listening to sports talk radio today and they were ripping WWE apart for showing the tribute. I honestly don't think WWE knew the details last night, but I guess to please the critics and people who were offended they're gonna do an apology. We definately should not be paying tribute to a man who murdered his wife and child. And I certainly hope WWE doesn't put him into the Hall of Fame, ever. No matter how great a wrestler he was, it still doesn't cover the fact that he's a murderer. Forgive me if it sounds harsh, but that's how I feel. From now on, WWE should completely disown him.

Woman's career spanned a long time. She was doing managing in WCW in the late 80s, early 90s, and was a major part of Sandman's act when he was in ECW. So they have a lot of things they could use for Woman if they wanted to do a tribute to her.

I would love to hear from Sully about this, although I've heard that he was no saint to Nancy either... and I consider him one of my wrestling heroes.

my thoughts exactly. remembering seeing benoit on stampede wrestling when he first started. you could tell he was going to make a lasting impression on the business. but this impression he left was the furthest thing from my thoughts.

This is something that I don't get.
When these cases happen, the person goes for their whole family. Kind of like "if I can't have you, no one will" (as sick as it sounds). Was their a need to kill his kid, when his other two were still going to be living?

So is Benoit going to be a guy that the WWE just pretends never existed once this blows over? I mean will we ever see his matches on DVD again or will he get the Macho Man treatment?

Don't worry, Benoit will NOT go into the Hall of Fame. The WWE is severing all ties to Benoit, and I don't see them letting up.

I wish people would leave WWE alone
They knew as much as we did yesterday and they did what they could in a drastic situation
And i commend them for that.
And they will take the proper steps from now on

It is technically ECW tonight, so it would be nice if they did a Woman tribute show showing stuff from her ECW days. There is also earlier NWA stuff where she was involved with the Horsemen. They could do a tribute without having to show Benoit footage. I personally would think it would be fitting...Sandman, Taz, Flair, Scorpio(or did they release him), arn anderson, ron simmons were all managed by her. She was never in WWE though so probably not.

Ringmaster, you make me sick. Eddie did not what-so-ever, harm his family. Benoit KILLED his wife, and child. I don't think that's what Ringmaster was suggesting, he was just making a point about recanting the tribute show being pointless.

According to gerweck, DA Scott Ballard reported there were needle marks in Daniel Benoit's arm, suggesting he had been taking growth hormones for some time.
This story just continues to appall me.
